What's new

Follow me along the Bubba Kush trail....

My thermostat is right on the edge of the air handler but it's controlled by the Harvest Master. And that sensor is located at plant level in the middle of the room. I also have my air handler feeding to the veg room so even at night when the compressor turns off the air handler is still taking in the heat from the veg lights (1X1000MH, 1X750MH, 2X750HPS, and 1X1000HPS) so there is a quite a bit of heat coming through. It handles it for like I said 15 minutes or so and then the compressor kicks back on. But my heat build up isn't bad in that time. I think it's set to kick on when it climbs 3 degrees. My temps are normally static at 70 unless it's a real hot day and I have to turn it down to 65 or so to cool the room a little more. Then during the last week of flower I hit em' with 55-57 (whichever won't freeze my line) :)

so you have a regular ac thermostat like the house control? and you hooked up a harvest master to that? which model harvest master? and hows the connection?

Hey Asher1er, BTW, you have a beautiful setup. Have you seen those Maxx Air Shades? They're 10" diameter cool tubes! Sexy as hell. Your set up reminded me of those.

Anyhow, yes, I have a regular house thermostat, actually it's a pretty cheap one. Then my Harvest Master (Pro Plus Model) has a relay that the air handler plugs into. The only time I really have to touch the thermostat like I said is on hot days or the last week of flowering. The Harvest Master is pretty good. I wouldn't recommend you buy the pro plus, just too expensive what you really need it for. You could get the Harvest Master base model and it'll do the temp control for you. I just have the pro plus because I thought I'd be using all the extra outputs, but have only used 4, so complete waste of money IMHO. Maybe I'll use them later. The cool thing is you can customize exactly how you want your room to be. If you want fans on or off when CO2 is dispersing, turn dehumidifier on during the day when humidity climbs or have it programmed to come on when the lights turn off. Tons of cycle timer options, Also options for when one output is triggered to go on you can have another output automatically turn off and vice versa. It's actually pretty cool, I just need to tweak it a bit and customize some more things. Just been too busy with remodeling the room. Another incredible controller is the Intelliclimate. Expensive as hell too, but you can log on and change your enviornment anywhere in the world. That's freedom.

Are you thinking about ducting all your lights and throwing them into the air handler? It might add a little time to the heat building up before the compressor comes back on. But if it's working well, which it looks like it is, keep it. How many plants do you run at a time? Are you strictly in hydroton, or is that coco in the pots? Also, looks like the buckets have the return line, how is that working for you with 1" or so of water that sits in the bottom of the buckets?

well i only have the cool tubes cause all my other reflectors where being used and there was no funds to purchase new ones.. ive never used air cooled lights i was just curious how that was working out for you, it sounds like something that can possibly benefit me. I run a sealed room for co2 i know i can make a closed circuit for the lights but my outside temps are no where in my favor neither :badday:

the system is a dwc bucket setup, theres only 20 tree's in there and its recirculating...no medium in the bucket only in the 6 inch netpot, the roots are down in the bucket with the water. there is an air stone in there and my nutes are constantly recirculating through the whole system

Hell yah, bruda! I bet that air stone makes a world of difference, huh? That may have been my problem with the hydroton, I may have needed to put an air stone in each bucket. But, I would've had to get a manifold to go out to 100 buckets. So I went back to coco and I have to say I am soooooo glad I did. Anyhow, your setup is beautiful. What's a typical yield---size of plant when flipped, does it double in size during the initial 2 week onset, do you trim leaves, do you harvest all at once, or cut the tops and leave the rest for another week?

yeah system def wont be good for 100 bucket run unless there small buckets. Im gonna do a coco run, drip feed drain to waste hopefully it goes good. As far as yield goes i can't say, its the first time with the system and first time in the room so we will see soon. I lst using a trellis netting so i keep putting them under. i would say my sativas more then double in size when flipped thats why most hit them with phosphoload in like the second week to control the height but i didn't do it this round :badday: harvest all at once, hang the whole tree upside down and take fan leaves off little by little, then trim dry. i might cut my tops off and let the bottom go a bit londer, we'll see how things work out :joint:

Here are a few updated pics from day 9 going into day 10

Here are a few updated pics from day 9 going into day 10

Here are some updated pics from the night of day 9. You can see I have some burn from the prior medium I was using or I ripped some roots during transplant, in any event, the new growth looks wonderful, even after running the sulfur burner for a couple of days to get rid of the pain in ass mildew.

I also added an exhaust vent for specifically for the sulfur burner and to aid in the humidity build up. I have it exhausting air at night (lights out) in 15 minute intervals. I think it comes on every 3 hours or every 4 hours.

Tomorrow, I'm building another table and adding two more lights. I know I could use the ones in there more efficiently, however, doing that means moving them and that is not an easy task with 100 plants underneath them. So I'll do that after this run is finished. I'm going to add two more 1000K that I have sitting around and put them on a 3X8 table. I figure I can fit 40-50 on that table and harvest a table each month. Although one will be significantly smaller. Hope you all enjoy thus far.

Hey man, impressive set-up, you have a lot of great knowledge and a great attitude to go along with it - and you're using coco! :joint: Looking forward to seeing more from this! :pimp3:

WOW!
I am liking what I am seeing. Screw the clay pellets - coco rules!
