when the temperatures are high the plant breaths more then normal. part of its way to cool down. if there breathing alot they use more co2 then if its cooler and there breathing less.
now, that dosent mean its effectivly being used. i couldnt tell you that, its just breathing in the co2 to cool down. so when its hot the co2 supply is exhaused alot faster then when its colder.... making use of a co2 tank in that situation might be nice.

C02 is the ultimate addition to a grow room/greenhouse that is perfect in every aspect..... every thing goes up a couple of notches.
Anyway if you want to save some $, you might think about using beer gas (C02) instead of horticultural/agricultural grade C02. Tell em you're into home brewing with your friends etc. I found it to do the job nicely....... and alot cheaper too....... plus no one asks you any questions.
Admittedly you get a couple of kegs from a bottle of gas, but hey, you've got a lot of drinking buddies! lol
There are a stack of reasons for using lots of gas...... leaking tap,..... leaking gas line...... left the bottle on after clearing lines, etc, etc. Maybe think about every 2nd bottle exchange from a hydro...... what ever works for you.

So does everyone still say tank over generator? Adding Co2 to my new sealed 4000w room (12' x 8', 12' x 4' footprint). I have an 18,000btu window AC and have narrowed it down to a Sentinel controller. My hydro store is having 25% off Sentinel products soon and I wanna take advantage of it. Should I get the VCG-27 lp generator at like $450 or go with tank(s) and regulator.? Also, if I went generator, I can have it outside my room, correct? I read these posts of added heat issues...

Aight...so could I situate a generator outside the room, or must it be inside?? What if I went with tanks? I have the 18k btu ac, but I'd prefer its not always running full bore. Outside day temps will be 70s to 80s the next few months. And damn...I heard some good things about the Sentinel controllers, just figured everything they made was boss. Can the cap gen work with a sentinel controller?

You have to put the generator in your room. If your room is sealed well it shouldn't be on for very long, they don't really add that much to a room and a tank of LP lasts a lot longer. Look for co2 genearator that doesn't have a pilot light, electronic ignition is better.
Beer gas is a blend of nitrogen and co2.
Bottled is better for the environment, because the co2 is captured as a byproduct of some other industrial process. Generators add to pollution by burning fossil fuels to generate the co2.

I'm going to say that the "papers" that say co2 is worthless when compared to a well ventilated area is complete garbage...
Its proven FACT that back when plants ruled the world, the co2 levels were way way higher (right around 1500PPM!!) it was also hotter, and if you think about it, i bet Earth was covered in plants compared to today.
I just don't see how you could trust a "study" that is comparing grow rooms of different design, makeup, nutrients, growing method, genetics, etc etc etc... its just not possible. (I haven't read the article, but i'll still say its garbage.)
Your best bet for the answer would be to talk to a botanist. (maybe one at your university)

Is your water heater nearby? NG is cool if your line isn't too far away but if you aren't familar with working with NG gas lines I'd call a plumber, but on the plus side you never have get refills. Propane is cool cause you don't need a plumber and it's pretty plug and play. At your local propane store you can get a valve that will switch over from an empty tank to a full tank, it's nice to have keeps the line pressurized, I noticed I would have to prime the line sometimes before I got one (plug & unplug the generator until it would light up with the ignition)

For instance I was seeing some PM developing on plants in flower, because the temps were too cold using constant exhaust. So I rigged up my Co2 equipment, dehumidifier and set the temp higher, humidity lower and watched the PM melt away.

propane is better but propane creates CO, Carbon Monoxide. Propane has a better conversion rate from gas to co2, but it is more deadly.

Ended up getting the Sentinel propane generator. Clean design, easy to set up with the Sentinel controller. Works like a dream though. Plants took much more nutrients with added co2 in veg. 1000ppm and I really had to up their feedings. Got it right and...BAMM!! Watch them blow up. Mites came back midway through flower and I had to move everything outside to finish. The little fuckers backed off and the plants finished OK.
Currently expanding the room to hold the 4x12 and another 4x8 or 12. Hope this can be a good test of the boost juice =)
