Can the flow through a carbon filter be reversed?

Hello all

Am 2-3 weeks into flowering on my second grow. Have recently removed the carbon filter from the grow room end of the exhaust fan to increase flow, as ambient temps have been rising steadily over the last few days (wont last long- beautiful British weather). A week later and the girls are starting to kick up a bit.

So i was wondering , as the fan vents into the other end of a partitioned garage, could i put the filter on the vent room end. So the fan would be blowing air through the filter instead of sucking.

Any thoughts?????

yes, this should work just fine.

I have two filters in my space. One sucks and one blows. they are both the same.

thanks jip

i 'll connect it up immediately.

Have you noticed if one way is more efficient then the other?

I know, now I feel guilty.

colonel, One filter is much smaller than the other one. They both function the same way.
I believe that sucking works better than blowing.

I have carbonsfilters too one taking app. 1000 m3/hour the other less than 3oo m3/hour. I dont need the big one for the time being, but I have been considering sealing my room completely and then use the big carbon to filter the incoming air for insects etc, but i am wondering how much resistance there would be and how much less air would be turned around by the 300m3/hour filtr that way ?

Good question Satyr. Dont know the answer to that one but i imagine it would cut down the flow a fair bit. Are you talking about having the big fan blowing air in from outside, or just letting the small exhaust fan pull air in through the room and filter?

This is how my room is set up. I just have an exhaust fan at one end of the room above the lights, and rely on the draw to pull fresh air in through a vent at the other end. Getting temps about 10 deg above ambient (70-85 deg in the room). Not ideal and looking at adding another fan to draw in fresh air soon.
