OK I will soon have room for a cabinet grow!!!!
I want to make it 4tallX8widex4deep. I want 2 seperate 400w flower chambers measuring 3ft wide 4 tall and 4 deep. I want a 250wcmh and 1 t5 in a 2ft wide 4tall and 4 deep. Basicly a sheet of plywood in a rectangle 2ft off the ground on legs.
How much ventilation will I need to run a 400w hps in 48cubic feet of grow area?
Is this even possibe
I plan on using a flip flop so when one flower chamber is on the other is off and visa versa, with the veg area in the middle. I was planning on using a 20lb carbon filter with a 325+cfm blower in each flower chamber venting out thru the veg area.
Any comments or links to similar cabinets or ventilation issuse?

2 flowering boxes means flowering 24 hours a day. Cab A's day is cab B's night. Two bulbs can run on one ballast. No spikes in the meter readings. Maybe other advantages as well.

yeah lots of advantages....like a true side by side comparison of whatever I want like: CMH vs HPS, If UV makes a diff, Kool bloom vs no Kool bloom the possiblilties are endless.
I dont want a "hut" I am going to build my cab, my Q is "will a 400whps too much for a 4x3x4 =48CF" cabinet?

My cab is 22"x29"x54" slightly smaller than half your size. I'm running an open hood 250 CMH with a 76cfm axal fan. I'm ok for winter growing (my cab lives in the garage) but, summer temps may play havoc on my cab and DWC res temps.

I think your cab would take a 400 with proper venting. If you can't go with a bigger fan, try an enclosed hood/cooltube with dedicated exhaust. One for the light one for the cab.

i have a 600 hps in about 40 cub ft cab. I just coll the lights and by temp gets to 90 with no cab ehaust....if my ambient is at 72-73...

I built one of the 'Tick' cabinets, but i put air cooled hoods on top outside the cabinet. With the same exhaust fans that The Tick used, my cabinet stays about 75f. Its not stealth, but it runs lots cooler and gives me the full inside height for growing.

400w is a just a wee bit on the small side for 4 x 3. Consider 600 instead.

I could go with a 600w....but I want to do a 400hps vs 400cmh for my 1st grow in the cabinet, as for the "extra space" in the cabinet the carbon scrubber will be INSide each of the flower spaces.

My plan to start with is: 4 plants per flower "room" so 8 total in bud "harvest around 6-12oz evry 4 weeks" ,4 in veg for 4 weeks and 4 "clones" under 2ft of T5 so a total of 16plants + 2 moms. One I get my system dialed in I want to drop to 10plants total.
IMO geting 3 to 4oz Plus per plant is Def gona happen with proper training into a screen under a 250w CMH.
