Unsafe workplace

Anyone here ever turned an employer in for an unsafe work place? I've seriously been thinking about & here I am a guy who's worked some dangerous jobs in the world, but I can't stand having an unsafe work place. Accidents ARE avoidable when the proper procedures are taken. Thats why I've never had a problem working dangerous jobs. However, the warehouse I work in is just ridiculous. If there was a fire most days I would be dead. For instance They constantly block the fire lane so you can't get through and the one and only fire extinguisher isn't properly mounted to the wall rather its sitting on the floor down on of the aisles that also happens to be blocked with shit. Also, just last week someone left a large 10 ft+ ladder just leaning against the fire door.
Thats not all either. We are constantly told to stock boxes way to high to the point they've fallen on me and nearly seriously injured me once. I've been told to use the fork lift before even though I'm not certified. Storage is not kept below the sprinklers. Anyway, theres a list of violations that happen at my work place that I could go on about all day long and I'm tired of it. Its just a matter of time before someone I work with or myself becomes seriously injured.
So what do you guys think I should do? Should I turn them in and see what happens or should I ignore it and find a new job, or should I just find a new job and then call it in?

if the threat is relative and real, then you do what you have to do.

Is the employer approachable? Do they just not give a sh1t? is anything negative magnifying how you feel?

normaly when you force an empplyer to do somehitng , no matter how right you are its the beginning of the end

See my thing is when I do something I want to do it right & as safely as possible. I don't like to cut no corners however my employer has no problem with cutting corners & thats how these unsafe work violations come about. I've tried to mention things to them here and there and it goes through one ear and out the other with them. It seems like they just shrug off whatever I say. I've been able to deal with it until recently but lately its really bothered me because its just a matter of time before someone gets hurt here, and if by some unforeseen accident the warehouse does catch fire we are fucked. And its not like those things don't happen, recently a warehouse burnt down not to far from here.
I'll probably end up calling them in I just hope it doesn't comeback to me.

you might wnat to evalute your financial position and look around and make sure you a have a backdoor pb4 you pull the trigger so you have a alternative if sh1t hits the fan

good luck, sucks to be treated like that

If not for your sake, you almost have an obligation to your co-workers.

What would happen if you were to start fixing the safety problems? Do the other employees consider it unsafe?

Most likely when you complain they will find a reason to get rid of you. They always do.....

OSHA wont listen to you if you arent still employed there....they get too much of that crap.

so if u complain to them u have to do it before u quit.

i manage a production facility, and there are things i can pick apart all day long.

i do my best to keep things in order, but it's not always possible. (i'd seriously like to see a "model facility" in operation by osha standards.

id say to not quit, and do your best to keep things "safe", and to not complain to anyone about it...unless its really serious.

by the location mf my workplace we get away w/ some shit that would never fly if i was 10 miles down the hill.....shit like illegal paint guns, illegal paints, shotty flamable storge areas.

....but overall we run a "tight ship"

ive worked places way worse (crab boats...hehe)...osha would have a field day there if they could.

well the turn over rates are high here. i mean, you've got to have some thick skin to work for these people. you'll see a new guy one day and the next day you'll be wondering where you help was. I've liked working here in the past and have even bragged about it on here but at about the same time we went under new management and since then things have gone down.

when i see something thats not right i'll fix it. like the ladder leaning in front of the fire lane door i moved. however, i can't do it all and sometimes i'm even told to something wrong like stacking boxes past code or using the fork lift when i'm not licensed. and for the fire extinguisher i pointed that out weeks ago, and did they mount it back in its proper place? nope, it got kicked back down the isle i found it in. just sitting there. when i found it it was under the shelves. its the only one i've seen back there.

i understand its hard to run a perfect ship but they fuck up the smallest things.
i'm not one to complain either. i've worked in construction sites my whole life, however we still ran a real tight ship because OSHA loves to stop by on construction sites any given day.
if i can run a tight ship on a construction site certainly management here can run a little tighter ship in a warehouse.

Is it a private company or is it a franchise. Also how is the saftey history of this place. I would prolly talk to some fellow employees b4 i did anything. If they feel the same as you than talk to your supervisor about it. If he blows you off or cops the "holier than tho" attitude with you than you should do someting about it as it is obviously bothering you. I guess you could always wait for an accident, hope you survive and fully recover and then go for the get rich quick swindle, but it seems like you genuinely care and i dont think anyone would get upset with you or try to fire you for caring. Just try not to talk to him like the idiot he may be.

ah yes...
the little people who feel beholden to evil ownership...

sidelining their own morality for the sake of a 9 to 5...
forgetting the FACT of their disreputable contribution to ignominity...
will FAR outlast the meager wages they pull down in the act...

ya, just you balance the law with the fact of your factory...
on your slaves wage scale...

bullshit jobs...
for bullshit humanity...

the good people pray for fire... and hull breaches
