I cant speak for the 400 or 600 but I went through several 120v 1000w digital ballast. none worked more than a week for me before blowing the internal fuse and had to be shipped back for warranty replacement. I went through 2 x galaxy, 1 x infinity and 1 x future bright before Sunlight Supply & I came to a mutual agreement to just refund my money.

I went to the old school magnetic 1000w ballast and they work fine.

the 1000w's are now collecting dust as I have switched over to 400 watters for the time being. less heat & they accept the 400 watt cmh bulbs.

regards,
JT

"E" Ballasts are great. They run super quiet! Quieter then any magnetic ballast, that is for sure!
Although, i hear they don't work well w/ conversion bulbs, but if you get the correct bulbs you will be fine

thats what my h-store guy said, he wont even sell me a galaxy.
he tells me they trade in alot of gal's i actualy use the 120-240> alot as ive pluged them into many different sockets, and would hate being stuck with 240 or 120 as only choice. ive had 2 of my galaxies for 3 years and the 3rd for 1.5-2 years

im in the process of buying an infinity(1000w) for 200$

the galaxies run a tad effecient as they use .1-.2 less amps the C&C mine accepts all HPS bulbs, but im running hortilux, and sunmaster hps->MH conversions.

all digi ballats run hps bulbs as standard none are 'mh' but they all run mh conversions just fine.

i traded a 600w Hydrofarm C&C bal for one of my galaxies.
when i had the hf and the G bals together i put my lumin meter on them, i got the tinyest of increases in lumins(maybe 60 or so max) but from the same bulb ill take it.

i must note that i make an effort to keep my equipment (ballasts) comfortable and not abuse them with hot temps. it also runs ever so slightly more effeciant with lower temps.

I have a couple Galaxy 400's that have been problem free for about a year and a half now. They will fire either hps or mh bulbs. It is my understanding that digi ballasts will fire either hps or mh, but that in the 600w and 750w sizes, standard mh bulbs simply aren't made and thus the need for the conversion bulbs. Like I said, my 400 digis will fire either type of standard bulb.

Hey Dutch, what it is!?! Hope all is well with you too.

Yeah, all my recent ballasts have been magnetic. I just buy the kits and make my own anymore - it's sooo much cheaper.
