Japanese customs give someone 142g's of Cannabis!

Cannabis blunder at Tokyo airport

An unwitting passenger arriving at Japan's Narita airport has received 142g of cannabis after a customs test went awry, officials say.

A customs officer hid a package of the banned narcotic in a side pocket of a randomly chosen suitcase in order to test airport security.

Sniffer dogs failed to detect the cannabis and the officer could not remember which bag he had put it in.

Anyone finding the package has been asked to contact customs officials.

"This case was extremely regrettable. I would like to deeply apologise," said Narita International Airport's customs head Manpei Tanaka.

Strict laws

The customs officer conducted the test on a passenger's bag against regulations. Normally a training suitcase is used.

"I knew that using passengers' bags is prohibited, but I did it because I wanted to improve the sniffer dog's ability," the officer was quoted as saying.

"The dogs have always been able to find it before... I became overconfident that it would work," he said.

Japan has strict laws against drugs and possession of small amounts of cannabis can lead to a prison sentence.

Lets hope they have even stricter laws for their enforcement officials.

I know right... think of what would happen to you when this test goes awry and you had say... $12,000, or even better, $20k, or even something simple like, prescription pills you buy illegally, and this bozo plants something on you and then you get busted for carrying too much currency while flying internationally... WTF? I HATE using credit cards, HATE IT!!!! They always turn them off while you are traveling conveniently when you don't have a phone, or can't speak the language.

was just about to post this----reminds me of a time I flew into Munich.I was the last person off the plane and as we walked thru the terminal I saw a man and woman in uniform approaching all the passengers.I then saw the passengers shaking their heads.I was curious to say the least.

As I approached the woman stepped up to me and asked if I would mind putting a small package in my pocket as they were testing the sniffer dog!!!!Now bearing in mind that I was carrying a very small amount of personal I thought this was tremendous good luck so I said yeah,no probs.Took the pack, put it in my pocket and walked another 10 meters or so and the dog jumped all over me .They took the pack and said thank you and we all sauntered on our way happy ....looking back at it later I realised that what I did was maybe not so smart as the dog could have continued sniffing about but at that point I was already contaminated with the smell they had put on me.Strange but true

This sounds well dodgy and unproffesional, why didnt they just put a bag through themselves with the stuff in rather than planting stuff in someones bag!?

And Burning_red your crazy mate doing that, spose in ur circumstance u were carrying anyway so may well have gotten caught if it wasnt for that, but still if someone came to me at an airport askin me to carry something through customs i dont think id be sayin yes !!!!

that's really fucked up!

that was 5 oz. of weed, that side pocket of the suitcase was obviously already empty. so what if this person never checks that pocket and continues his travels???

they would HANG his ass or be jailed for life if he unknowingly next tried to travel into Dubai as we all know. this almost sounds like something the US govt. would cook up for its citizens imo.......

Dude gave it back. It was a non-japanese guy from Hong Kong it seems.
What a ridiculously irresponsible thing for customs to do.

btw, they're saying 5oz = $10,000. Nice try. Not even in Japan.

Hey OP, do you know if its true that when you don't consent to a vehicle search, that cops will make dog false positive and that therefore gives cops reasonable cause to search?

Yes this is true as they will say the dog is acting up. They dont care if the dog sits and stares or not they wanna have a look see at what you didnt want to show them. It is worth noting that during a k9 walk around of ur vehicle you should watch the office that brought the dog as he has the remote for the dogs shock collar on his belt, and yes K9 do where shock collars as they are trained in a foreign language for work but they are talked to in english at home. They dont always listen to commands when they get worked up and a jolt is necessary, even though that jolt, would be a hit on ur car in front of a judge. I would assume customs dogs also have these shock collars on as they are around literally thousands of people and having them act up wouldnt be a good thing.

Correctomundo my man, they find it, its ur ass. I seiously doubt u could defend urself by saying the officer provoked the K9. Hopefully this situation never presents itself to you but if it should u could always watch the officer and ask why the dog jumps everytime he touches his belt. lol, unless u obvioulsy have the smell of something coming from ur car in which case it is probably a true positive.
