1.Its nothing like soil, and some soil has no nutrients in it as well.....Depends how you buy it. I have seen coco with nutrients and other pieces of crap mixed in with it, but like many other coco growers will tell you coco is best left alone.

2.Coco is better than soil because you usually have to water everyday, and that means feed as much as you want because you can water everyday. The plants roots need to breathe so coco is better because instead of letting the roots rot in soggy soil they get a chance to breathe everyday and when your watering everyday at a scheduled time you plants will grow faster. Although some soil growers do a good job at letting their soil dry out once a day and letting their roots breathe, coco is just superior because it is super fine and you can maximize a lot more roots in a smaller container making it easier for the pots to dry out once daily.

3.Yes it does need to stay wet, BUT not soaked. I learned the hard way and got gnats, gnats love soaking wet mediums all the time. So now I let my pots dry out until they NEED water, but on the inside they are still wet. It's a fine line you will have to find out yourself. Adjustments will need to be made along the way I have been using coco for over a year now I think and finally have it down. But check out my buds and say they are dank!!! lol

4. I personally think it's easier than fucking with soil, but then again it's more work watering and mixing all the time. But the end result is primo buds, that smell and taste like soil but grow quicker and fatter and more potent like hydro. Best of both worlds.

Hope this helped, I went from soil to coco and I've tried hydro and for a medium sized grow coco is awesome. For commercial I would go hydro. It's easier to flood buckets and shit, I hand watter everyday! ouch. Oh well PEACE

I get the bag most of the time, but I hea the cheaper deal is in the bricks, the expand a lot when waters added but you gotta break them apart yourself. I just buy bags and throw it into a plastic tote crate under my bed and pull it out whenever I need to use it. Peace

Jeff I will chime in with Zoo, I like the bags better, and I use one called coco can, it has worm castings mixed in and the canna a and b nutes couldent get any easyer to use and the coco is reusable with a little root removal. Its just so much simpler to me than getting soil and mixing all the shit in it and fucking up a crop if you don't get it right, almost impossible to over water and the plants just plain love the coco.

welcome to the coco club!

many people have success with cloning in coco and many do not. stick with whatever method has worked the best for you in the past. if you're new to cloning then i would get a sheet of rockwool, just for giggles, and since you'll already have some coco on hand try it both ways.

the bricks or bales of coco are the cheapest, hands down, and if you're only gonna need 5 gallons there's no need to buy a whole bag of the regular stuff. bales provide as much finished material as the bagged loose stuff and they're usually about 14 bucks. if you can't store 2+ cubic feet of loose coco, you can just saw off a chunk from the side of the bale and decompress only what you'll use.

peace, love & coco
