Old school Speaker Micro Grow

Goodday Guys,

I been viewing a few micro grow now on this forum, finally decided to do my, found a old pair of speakers in trash at work, thought this can be a nice micro grow!! so got a few ideas together.

My speakers are 70cm x 30cm x 24cm,run on a 50w CFL, DIY micro flow & drain system, 12v pc fan, just something simple, i might have to change to a blubber system, coz of space during flowing. Still need to finish some ducting and get a few clones.

Tell me what you guys think??
any strain suggestion?

Sounds cool. How big are the speakers though? Is there a 50w in each speaker? I think you need 2 posts to post pics so you should be good to go now. i have a pair of them, i might combine them together, but i wanted to do one clone and veg, and the other flowering, maybe even a side by side CFL, LED, speaker grow

Very nice. Is this your first run in this speaker box? How stealthy does it need to be (what is its surrounding environment)? What strain?

i will have to move house soon, so need to put a stop to the project, sorry guys just have to wait a little longer, anyway i speak to a good mate of mine i think we are going to touch up the speaker a bit, and start building the other speaker, i am starting to agree space is a issue, but i think the vent will be fine. my idea was to get close to 2 oz per speaker, but i think thats pushing it.

When ever i am baked, i can think better, i think one of the key of a nice mirco grow is the first 2 weeks of the plant. if i can push the plant down as much as i can during that time, and let them branch out as much as it can, that might a different. or maybe i am just really baked.

So i am going to try something in this grow, i have to touch up on the speakers, all that foil is going to come off and my friend got me some better stuff so thats going in, i am going to build a new reflector one on the CFL now just need to touch it up a bit, and have one at the bottom of the plant, so it create a tube shape when the light are down, for max light since i only got a 50w. i am going to push them down with a glass and having the exhaust fan at the top of the light reflector going strange out the speaker. and the last thing is the hydro system, and i will need some help, having the flood and drain system are good, wet n dry cycle is heathy for the root and good for the plant, and taking the most advantage out of hydro, but the space issue, the different between the FnD and a bubbler system in my grow is the 7 cm on the grow space, coz the FnD need a 2nd tank at the top and the blubber only need one tank, tell me wat you guys think? thx lot

2 oz. with only 50w of light? Hate to say it but I think 1/4 - 1 would be a more realistic goal, could prove me wrong....Good Luck!

bout to start the construction on my speaker and i am wanting to do some kind of micro hydro system..could you maybe give a little detail of what your hydro system consist of and how it works.would be great!!thanks alot

Yea, I'm going to second the rethinking of your yields from 50W.

Even if you got a gram per watt (which is highly unlikely for your first few times in the space), you'd still only get 50 grams which is not even 2 ounces. Half a gram per watt even is doing a pretty damned good job and that's going to be less than an ounce for you. I would expect yields closer to 7-14 grams until you get it really dialed in.

Speaker grows are fun.





Consider some more wattage if your ventilation allows some wiggle room for it, I had 40 watts and barely got a half (my first grow in that space as well).

your on your way. but if it was mine. i would drill holes at top of back just big enough to get the light socket part to connect to the socket plug out back. that way i could put 4 lights maybe and a piece of glass to make a cool tube so to speak. with its own vents separate from the grow areas.anyways happy growin peace
