so i am at my first grow. i have a growhut i built, 18 x 33 x 60 ". i started with cfls and just got a 400w hps with an air cooled reflector. i have a duct booster fan 6" 250 cfm for the reflector and a 4" 80 cfm for air exchange hooked up to a diy scrubber. i have a 10 inch fan and two 3" fans in there too. the growhut is inside my closet which doesn't get much ventilation. what seems to be my problem? do i need a bigger fan for the reflector or a bigger fan for the scrubber or should i tkae the growhut out of the closet and inside my bedroom? please help, i'm running at temps near 90F!

In your situation, the hot air is being pushed out of the growhut but it remains in the closet. The hot air in the closet ends up being drawn back into your grow hut's intake so you are effectively recirculating hot air. If you opened up the closet or moved your exhaust to a different room that would solve the problem. Depending on the size of your bedroom you may just be able to move the whole grow op there but the most effective way of eliminating heat is having your intake air and your exhaust air completely separate.

i see.
makes sense, the hut temps are very close to the closet temps. i know that the more ducting and angles i have, the more fan power i lose right? how far apart should i have the intake from the exhaust?

Are you exhausting the tent into the closet or to the outside or attic?

no, i wasn't. i got a 170 cfm inline fan with good static pressure and moved the box out of the closet. my ambeint temp is about 82F so i guess there's not much i can do but get an a/c.

Ty-Stik, you wouldn't happen to be in oregon?
