Here is a comparison next to a full grown seed:

The plant seems to be dieing off and growing very slowly, will these seeds finish? If so how long will they take?
Thanks!!

Most seeds take about 30 days from pollination to the end. How long ago did the pollen drop?

Seems like you should be using more nitrogen to carry the plant through.

Yup, nitrogen problem.
Yes, seeds take around 30 days to mature and then you have to set them aside and let them dry out, making sure you space them apart slightly when you set them out to dry.

Fans on them will help dry them faster.

If you are flowering a plant for seed is it not a good idea to keep her on Veg feeds for a couple of extra weeks to make sure she is in prime health to make the seeds rather than switching straight to Bloom so she fades nicely to make a good smoke ?

I generally pollinate my plants starting from the end of the 3rd week into the middle of the 4th week. That way, seeds have anywhere from 35-42 days to ripen. I feed veg nutes until the 3rd week of flower and switch to bloom nutes. Last 10 days I flush. Even at that, about 50% of seeds are not what I want to give to friends. If you very lightly pollinate a few buds instead of the whole plant, the seeds will be larger and a higher % will be good seeds.

These are pictures of my first seed making...which is still in progress. I pollinated this SSH female on April 2. as you can see, the bud wasn't very large. I did the two lowermost branches. I cut the two branches I hand pollinated on May 1. The buds looked ready since they had partially dried up on the plant and the calyxes were splitting open. And I planted 18 seeds on May 2. The plants you see are the 7 that sprouted.

This plant is the "mother" of the babies pictured below. She is still in flowering( Day 77), putting on resin even though she was completely pollinated by accident after the hand pollinating I did.

I have three phenos I pollinated. So it'll be fun seeing what results from each. I expect quite a bit of variation.

Question? If the buds are partly dried up like mine were, is it OK to go ahead and cut the bud and get the seeds like I did?

SSH5...You can imagine how many seeds I'm going to have from this whole plant. Trust me folks, you don't have to seed many buds to get a S***LOAD of seeds.

Brushing on pollen. She was on day 30 of flowering here.

These are the first plants from my own seeds (SSH X SSH) original seeds from Mr Nice. The oldest is 10 days old. Youngest is 7 days.

These seeds are actually from another pheno I have in flower SSH6. She is a much different pheno than the plant in the top picture. This is SSH6 also Day 77 of flower. She was not a victim of my accidental pollination and has another 3-4 weeks to go. I pollinated a couple of her lower buds and these are her seeds. I haven't sorted out any of the bad ones yet. These are "just as they come from the buds".

SSH6 on Day 77 of flower is a very sativa dominant pheno of SSH. She'll go 100+ days in flower.

Noticed flower(matured and fell on soil) may 2nd, so Ima just calculate it from may 1st for polination... so Im about 20 days in...

yeah I think thats where I messed up, the plants got so many seeds to grow that its probly takin longer...

I could see pretty easily when my buds were maturing if that's the right word. The lil "sugar" leaves in the bud dried up and turned brown. The calyxes began to dry up and split open. I could see the brown(ish) seed hull. So I said, "Screw it, I'm gonna plant some...now." So I cut them at 30 days.

I probably should have not cut those so soon, but I couldn't wait :) plus I knew I had more seed.

Even though this is my first time, I do agree with pops that one should "control" pollination. Fewer buds being pollinated means better quality seed...makes some sense to me. And you can get a lot of seed from a few small select buds.

Yo MO  I dont wanna be the negative nancy but I think you said that these were caused by heat and stress and I know they may carry a female trait but these plants have had it rough for awhile and I think if you grow them out try a few and dont base a whole grow on them so if they hermi again you still have meds for you and your lady and can discard the hermies. Just trying to help bro so dont take as a attack on your grow brotha

Oh yeah, thats fa show Zoo! No way Ima put all my eggs in one basket with these seeds, Ima try a couple of each kind, then probly give away the rest with a warning attached. My main concern right now though is just getting them to finish.

Basically, you have another 2 1/2 weeks before the seeds are ready. If you care more about the seeds than the bud, you might try adding a little N to keep the plant going. It is in the final stages of bloom and is drawing all the nutes from the leaves in order to finish. If you are more intersested in the bud, just say fuck it and harvest the plant when it is ready. If the seeds mature, fine. If not, there is always next time. Seeds from hermi plants are like a box of chocolates. You never know what you are going to get, if anything. Some male sacs on hermis are sterile.

Not that one.... My shit is seeded like no other, I could plant a field with all those little seeds... Good lookin though, I fed with some veg food today, give a lil nitrogen like you said. Im not really trippin to much on the buds, I like the well done/couch lock affect anyway, I smoke ta kill pain and go to sleep, head effects just a plus on the side!

I feel you, Get Mo. I had a Princess Diesel male that didn't show sex until I left for a couple days to help my daughter. Came home to 27 knocked up former virgins. Results were 30,000 seeds of which I kept about half. Twelve crosses and some F2s. I have given away 3300 seeds and still have enough to last me the rest of my life.
