Bathroom Fan and filter setup help

First of all I would like to say Hello to everyone. I have been lurking this site for sometime now putting together my first grow. This site has been very informative without it i probably wouldnt have gotten this far. anyway

I have a small bathroom in my master bedrm. that is 4.5'x5'x8' i removed the toilet and there is no tub i just left a very small vanity in there for water and storage.

I have a 600whps with cooltube and just bought a vortex 6" inline fan (449cfm)
and got a can66 filter. i know probably overkill but just in case ya know.

ok here is what i need help with. the bathroom has a hvac vent in the floor (crawlspace below) and has an exhaust fan (coming out as soon as filter and fan arrive) in the ceiling wich is ducted into the attic and out of the roof via some sort of roof vent or whatever.

the only thing i kinda want set in stone is to have the fan mounted in the attic and the exhaust going out of the vent in the roof.

should i ditch the hvac and pull cool air in from the crawlspace to cool the cooltube? then how could i scrub? (cant buy another fan now $$)

or should i keep the hvac and just put the scrubber in the room and just go filter>cooltube>Fan>out

sorry for such a long post but i almost have this figured out i think but dont know which way to go.
and smell is an issue and so is noise.
thanks in advance

one more thing whats the best way to seal around the door (light) that swings into the room and have nothing noticeable from outside of the room?

for the door, you could fix a little strip along the edge of the door inside the room so that when the door closes this little strip of wood overlaps the doorframe and covers the crack. Weatherstrip could be used to be doubly sure... even some of those little strips with bristles on that you put on the bottom to keep drafts out may be of some help in that regard... Or the same sort of thing that has a rubber strip on it....
regarding ventilation-if you cant get second fan right now then for the time being at least youre going to have to go filter>cooltube>fan>out because Im presume the Hvac in the floor is the fresh air intake for the room.. If you hooked the cool tube up to that and went through and through, as you say wouldnt be carbon filtering the air and wouldnt actually be changing the stale air out of the room for fresh...
you could also go with having the cool tube open at one end or just a haing a length of duct going from the end of the tube to the highest point in the room, sucking from the room-through the cooltube, going up to the attic with the filter up there being blown through... most filters are made to work well both ways
whatver you do youve got to be sucking stale air out of the room

yea 10-4 on the getting stale air out of the room. what about for ideal setup?
what would be the best way to do it if i could buy whatever? should i keep the hvac intact or close the duct off and use fresh air from the crawlspace ?
basically whats the best way to set up the whole room?

and i think i could get some of that garage door weatherstripping stuff and use it for the door, would it be better if it was black or white?

I dont think the colour of the weather stripping will make any difference... its gonna be squashed between the door and frame 99.9 percent of the time anyway..
As for ideal setup well really ideal air movement and cooling would be 3 fans..1 main extract, one cooling the light and another bringing fresh air in(this one would be a bit less powerful than the main extract so you keep a negative pressure in the room).. but just using 2 fans would be almost as good and less noisy... one fan bringing fresh air in and the other sucking through the filter then blowing through the cooltube and up into your attic.

ok i can add the second fan later then with no problem.

do you think i should leave the central air duct in place or remove it and draw from the crawlspace for the second fan? i mean would the duct for hvac be restricting my airflow compared to the direct draw from crawlspace? what about in the winter when its blowing heat out?

I cant really help onthe crawlspace thing-never worked with one... but I would have thought that if theres gonna be hit air blowing in that duct from somehwere else then you probably wont be able to use it as an intake-I guess that means direct from the rwlspace but Id see if someone else with more experience of crawlspaces chimes in.....

thanks for all your help so far harry,

my fan should be here by tues. and same for the can66.
also since my door swings into the grow room and most of the time weatherstripping and door sweep isnt enough (so i have read) would some type of plastic that i cut to slightly larger than the door and affix to it keep the light out good? kinda like a door sweep but plastic or rubber and all the way around the door.

maybe someone else will post up some ideas for the intake by the time my fan and filter arrive. . . anyone?

Id do the strip of wood/plastic thing stuck on the inside of the door around the edge to make a sort of flange...u know like doors below decks on a ship have a lip that overlaps and sits flush against the frame..... that, and the rubber strip doorbrush things on the bottom -one inside and one outside-weatherstripping stuck round the frame to make contact with the strip..
the strip would be about 3 inches or so wide...
I suppose another way if there was enoygh soace would be to build frame aound the inside of he door-obviously the door has to be able to swing open into it... Balck and white Poly sheeting stuck to the frame, tarp zipper if you want but a big overlap and clothes pegs would do it...

update,

got my carbon filter yesterday (can66) man is that thing huge. almost didnt have anywhere to mount it. going to get some weatherstripping today and some other stuff to see what i can do with the door.
i might post pics of it but i am kinda nervous about that.

so nobody has any ideas on the intake for me?

ok on the door the weatherstripping worked great. just 3/16 foam weatherstripping like 3$ a pack. it sealed off the top and the sides perfectly.

the door sweep didnt work to well i went cheap on it and i shouldnt have. it was one of those stick on sweeps that u cut to length. it is white and the light shines through it. i guess i will have to go buy the good one that you screw in and its black so maybe the light wont shine through.
i'll try it and let you know how it goes.

intake intake intake ideas? anyone?

I cant believe im the only one whose replied to you...
c'mon ppl give the man a hand.
another way you could do the bottom of the door is to gat a little strip of wood 3 iches wide and nail it to the door frame along the bottom of the door (not really stealth tho coz it would be outside the room if ur door swings in) like the little lip around the door i was talking about-just along the bottom with a bit o weatherstip...
oh, ur ok posting pics here....just dont save em on ur computer after u upload em to the site..and make sure ur internet is secure... Oh and just dont accidentally have stuff lying around which could indentify you when u take ur pics....... ie if you drag a plant into the lounge to get a better pic-ake sure no puics of ur kids on the wall and stuff like that is visible..

thanks for all your help so far harry. still need to fix the bottom of the door, not a big deal at the moment maybe this weekend. anyway

got my fan (6" vortex) yesterday and installed it, my temps dropped dramatically. they are perfect now.
i think that i need to upgrade to the insulated duct and figure out some way to make the fan and whoosh sound of the air quieter. still need to add more ducting anyway so maybe that will quiet it down.
oh and guess what else, the can66 works wonders my house no longer stinks, i could smell it even though i am only vegging now.

plucked 3 males yesterday and now have 3 fems (nirvana white rhino) and waiting for the one i shouldn't have planted to show sex (thai haze * skunk).

i also got some seedlings, another 8 white rhinos and would love for them to catch up with the rest quickly so i can flower. they are about a month or so behind.
will they catch up before the rest get too big.?
p.s. this will be a scrog grow. and already started training the "thunk"

pics maybe to come soon. . . maybe.

Glad you got it going and its taken the smell away-i know that puts ur mind at ease a lot. If you look in the DIY link-o-rama sticky thread there are a few different DIY fan muffler/silencer ideas....basically using coolers, or making boxes lined with acoustic foam... or using buckets or trashcans with an inner tube centre of mesh with duct connectors on either end and filled with fibre glass insulation or quilt batting-they work well and are basically the same thing that growshops sell as a silencer.
LOL The one you shouldnt have planted-Thai haze x Skunk...couldnt resist huh.... I bet that turns out to be a wonderful impulse decision.
The plants that are behind wont really catch up but if you are training the other stuff -as long as youve got space for things then theres no reason the younger ones cant be flowered earlier-youll get a lower yield but if you havent got a second space to keep em vegging then its better than killing them-you can go too far though because a really crammed tightly packed garden can yield badly if its just that bit to packed...
you can keep the height of the older plants down though with the training and theres no reason you cant stand the newer ones on pots to get an even canopy level if theres a lot of height difference between the plants.
how old are all the plants... as a rule its best for them to get 4 weeks of vegetative growth from seed in order for the plant to mature but they can be done a lot earlier if you need to-like i say though yields will be affected...
The plants youve already sexed-what light cycle are you on now?

yea the thai haze *skunk, lol sounds too good for me not too, but still hasnt shown sex so i may be wasting my time with a male.

the older plants have been vegged from seed for about 5 weeks, the younger ones were germed about 5 days ago so they just sprouted and are about 2 inches tall, just babies.

light cycle is 20/4.

the only reason i germed them was because i really wanted about 6-8 plants in there and now i am down to 3 maybe 4 (4th the long 120 day strain) so i went ahead and dropped em.

i mean i know that i could do it great in this space with just 2-4 plants but, . . .
hell i dont know why i did it oh well too late now.

need to hit the lottery so i can build me a veg cab so i dont have this problem because i would really like to clone one or both of the mature rhinos they are both very different plants.
