Economic stimulus?

Two part queston. Has anyone had a direct deposit stimulus check yet? What will you do with it? Still waiting on mine, although I think it is due to hit this week. I'll just use it to pay bills because my grocery bill and gas bill is killing me.

we are going to pay off $1200 in hospital bills, and bank the other $600

My son got his- his SSN ends in 01! He's lucky- payday and the stimulus check both arrived on the 30th! (More computer stuff has been ordered!) My SSN ends with 90-something....so I'll be among the very last! It will come when I really need it, during my school's summer vacation. So it ain't all bad!- Granny

but the motivation behind the "stimulus" was to get americans to spend spend spend which is the reason behind a bankrupt america.we should save save save instead.
we have more debt than the rest of the world combined and feel this year could be the year america faces the 6 d's-dollar-devaluation-debt-default-deleveraging-depression.
what happened in argentina in 2001 will be nothing compared to what happens here.
i hope canada and mexico are ready for desperate american refugees pouring into their countries.
apropo that bush would be the last prez.
but i'm ready.have my gold coins,9mm berettas,and cans of spam in my bugout bag.

Mine should be coming soon and it's all going to bills. In the short run this will just hurt the economy worse. People are going to spend it on gas/food/bills for the most part which will not boost the economy dragged down by 5 years of bloody war.

sure dude. While that gold was a mighty fine investment, I would look into selling it in the next few years if I was you, as its going to go back down to like 5-6 an oz in the next 10 years... mark my words. Gold is not a US based commodity.

in a giant depression, all the major cities of the US on the East and West Coast would still survive, I want to say 90% of our industry is on the coasts or some insanely high number like that...it would be the smaller parts of america, or middle america as we know it that would pretty much disappear, I asked my history teacher this last semester in college, and he talked it over with a good friend who teaches economics...

the thing america has to change, or rather we are changing is we have moved too being a "service" economy, from a "goods" economy.... now we or rather most of the country is employed in a service industry, versus selling and exporting goods like when our parents were young.

this is fine, its just going to take some adjusting for the older folks, hell I still cannot get past the idea that people on both the WEST and EASY Coasts are paying 3-10% of their salaries for "life coaching", yet another "service job", in that you don't have to provide any material goods, but just provide a service, in that case, acting as common sense some people apparently dont have...

the national debt can't be fixed quickly, however it can still be fixed, more than likely over the next 4-16 years, If you take a look at history, you will see patterns, and America is definitely DUE for a big change, what I don't know, however, the idea of a giant depression in which people would be running rampant on the streets is RETARDED, Do you people have any idea how many more LEO's and military the government has? In that situation that would declare a state of emergency and no one would be allowed outside during whatever time they said (like after dark), don't like it? you'd likely get shot and killed, especially if you were looting or committing a crime.... How many of your friends have a tank or APC(armored personnel carrier)? Might have a .50 cal sniper rifle, or an AK, but I doubt they have an APC ... bet your local big urban police force has more than one. Same thing with your local national guard...

what are u going to do with a 9mm anyways? that thing wouldn't even scratch a vest, and by that point you'd be dead. if you are that concerned about your safety, go get a .40 or .45. If you can't handle those guns effectively, look for one with a compensator, they make a HUGE difference.

forgot to mention gas.... this is something everyone is going to have to get used too aswell. Does it suck? Fuck ya it sucks, especially as I love driving! America has had amazingly cheap gas for ever. Google "average gas price by country" and see how bad AMERICA REALLY HAS IT... another thing we have are a shiatload of oil reserves up in Alaska and Canada that we BARELY TOUCH, can anyone imagine why? In 20 or 30 years when all that oil is gone from the middle east, everyone is going to have to get it from US/CANADA, and Russia... we also have oil fields in the gulf of mexico that we barely use, but it doesn't get covereted into crude on US soil i dont think.

Correct me if i am wrong, but i am pretty sure many places in Europe were paying the equivalent of $5 a gallon like 5 years ago.

EDIT: END RANT, sorry, but that statement really pisses me off...

But to answer the OP, I am actually doing the opposite of what Bush wants, all my 600$ is going to high interest debt...

spending mine on baby stuff and seeds. the best way imo to stimilate the economy is to legalize pot. i know, dead horse right? well, i see it differently, this issue need to be addressed. if pot were legal, no more money would be pouring into mexico and that money could be reinvested into the country. i thik we need to give up oil alltogether and go to corn. sure it will take awhile but we wont be so dependent on countries that hate us. and we would be happy stoners. no more tax dollars spent on housing pot offenders. thats a HUGE savings.


if the world is still here after dec 21 2012. :)

it was kind of tongue-in-cheek (some of it anyways but aint sure which parts) but the currencyreservepetrodollar free ride is over.
and canada and russia ain't exactly part of america although the pentagon and cia have plans to invade canada.that'll teach them labatts drinking furry-hats-with-ears wearing plaid-loving canucks for shipping michael j fox and jim carrey down to us,eh!

IMO the stimulus is to get you to vote for republicans in nov. Just my opinion

Well as usual, the way the Gov't words things it takes a lawyer to figure out. In the beginning the IRS said if you used direct deposit you would be some of the first to recieve their money. NOW they are saying "If you used direct deposit BUT had processing fees taken out of you refund you would be MAILED a check. Looks like i'll get my check later like everyone else instead of this friday
