How cold is too cold?

I've got four seedlings in my germination chamber under an energy efficiant fluro bulb (100W I think), all of them a few leaves big now and seemingly healthy. But because the main grow room is out of action for a little while and we've entered a bit of a cold snap here the temperature has dropped to around the 53 degree mark.
Will this be bad for my little babies? They have definitely slowed down a bit, but still look healthy enough.
Anyone have any tricks to warm a very small chamber? There's no way to fit a heater of any sorts in there and I'm loathed to turn the fan off.

Its 53 degrees inside your home? You can get a reptile heat mat with a thermostat at a pet store. Many heat mats for people use shut off automatically for safety reasons. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Maybe, you mean like for muscle pain and stuff? How long do thse things stay warm?

I have one with a low-medium-high switch, and it stays on as long as it is plugged in. Cost me about 7 or 9 dollars I think.

Its not in my home, its in the man shed. I'll have a look at the heat mats but I think they might be a bit too pricey- I was thinking more along the lines of two 9 volt batteries plugged into each other, or something as equally as technical

how about an old vcr or stereo or something like that.
most things give off heat when in use/plugged in.

I've just put my clip on desk/bedside lamp with a small 60w bulb in there. Should add plenty of coziness. I probably should have thought of that myself- but damn if these forums arent great for juicing the brain up a bit.
Thanks everyone, nothing like a free solution using some stuff round the house.
I'll let you know what the temps are like round the same time as this morning

Are you just using an average incandescent bulb? I remember reading here on somewhere that it didn't work out, or something to that extent...

Should be alright, I've still got my original light source in there and I've put some blue on the regular bulb so there's no red in there at all. Its not really bright enough to make any difference anyway, its just there for heat purposes

I'm glad it's warming up the girls.

As far as regards of how cold is too cold? Weather is often temperamental where I live, and some snowfall has even been seen in May before. Alas, I've had friends that had plants wake up covered in snow, only to be perfectly healthy once it had all melted.
