Cloning Help

I have a few questions about my clones... I couldnt find any specific information in the broad search results for my two main issues...

1 - I have about 50 clones in my DIY aero cloner. there is one that is rooted already and is coming along much much faster then the others... It is so much ahead I dont know what to do with it..

How long can I let it sit while the others catch up?

and 2 - when I put the clones right into the bloom box @ 12/12.. Should I give them full strength nute solution? I am going to give them veg nutes for the first 2 weeks.. But I am assuming to keep the ppms around 600 (1/2 strength)???

Any feedback is greatly appreciated.. Thanks

oh yea, im growing hydro in r/w by hand watering

You could grow the plant out in the aero cloner if you wanted to. Certainly wont hurt to let it sit a few days for the others to show. Personally, I push mine down through the top rather than pull them up. This way any damage is to the leaves not the roots.

I start clones with a 1/4 strength solution for a week. Followed by a couple weeks at 1/2. Once out of the seedling stage, I go full strength.

I agree with FreezerBoy, pretty much. I start at 1/4 nutes then to 1/2 then to full, but I may not wait a week to bump them up. I can tell from the plants when they are ready for more - but I'm familiar with my strains and if you aren't familiar with yours then a week between bumps is a safe bet.

When you go into 12/12 your plants will go thru a transition/stretch phase. I use a combination of grow and bloom nutes for a short while to transition the plant while it is stretching. By this time your nutes should be up to full strength for whatever the particular formula is for this particular phase. Later, when the plants are putting on buds, you might want to again modify your formula to add bloom boosters. One thing you need to keep in mind is that your plant can't read a ppm meter. While a ppm meter is very useful for dialing in a grow and checking to make sure you didn't screw up, it is your plants, not your meter, that will tell you what the most beneficial dosages are.

Enjoy your grow!

Thanks alot guys!... One more question, can u trim the roots back on the big daddy clone until all the others are ready to grow?? Because it is rooting fast!! its adding about a 1/2" of mass per day...

Well, let's hope it's a mommy. I'd leave the roots alone, the others will catch up.

Sure you can. I was just saying the others would catch up. The bloom box is another story. How long do you have to keep them out of the box? How big are your cubes? If it's just a few days, they can keep in the cloner. If it's weeks, you run the risk of roots tangling and being damaged in separation. For $10 or less you can buy a couple of shallow rubbermaid type tubs that will hold 20-30 rockwool cubes depending if they're 3" or 4". You could put the rooted clones in rockwool, keep them in the tubs till the box is ready. I've never done it but, people trim roots all the time.

well they are cloning in a DIY aero cloner I built.. it is like the EZ Clone 60 ... so they arent in cubes...

I was thinking just trimming them back once they start running wild until the bloom box is done..

I am running a small bloom room which measures about 4'5" s 4'5" and I have alot of lumens and wattage (1600w) .. which some might think is overkill...

But I have to run with it... I did a test run and the temps got up to 107 ... so I have to devise a plan to get them temps to around 90 at the HIGHEST.. so I am a ways off... But like I said, I really dont want to toss all these clones..

Thanks again ... I really appreciate the time taken out...
