Growing in urban or rural areas?

Hey guys, I live in Canada police, hydro-companies and people are more aware then anywhere else...

Raids are way up as well just in my small city theres about 5-10 raids every month....

However I am debating on getting a home just outside the city in the country however this is a common thing for cultivators to do is to go where more remote...I'm debating which would be less heat if all precautions are taken...what are your guys thoughts an urban or rural home?

I live 15 miles from "town" which is pretty small. I don't really pay that much attention to my neighbors other than I know who they are, what they drive etc. So anyway last year a close friend who lives 10 minutes away started asking questions about something (legal) I was doing in my yard a week or so before. I told him he should have stopped when he drove by and he said he didn't, my neighbor had mentioned it to him. Kind of caught me off guard as I pay NO attention to them and told him so.

He said. "you may not know what THEY are up to, but THEY sure as hell know what YOU are up to."

Point being is, that just because you are out in the stix, don't automatically assume that no one is watching. Matter of fact you might stick out like a sore thumb and not even realize it.

liam is so very correct. asa and i got or dream home built in O3. 4 acres near ashville nc off 4O on the side of a mountain where our front yard was WMA. man it was nice.

we lasted about 15 months. our neighbors were NOSY as hell. law set up road blocks all around our house and got a dog in our jeep that hit hard. they found zip. we packed and left 3 days after that.

we now stay in big cities. country folks are bored. city folk keep to themselves or get bent.

ild go back to apt before rural. ime

Yeah, theres like a little unseen network. In a lot of cases family members, cousins and such only live a few miles apart and these folks all grew up around one another and they do talk regularly.
The area I'm at is kinda where I grew up so I know most of them and they know I'm somewhat eccentric though they just think I'm a bit crazy.

lol liam, u crazy? no!! they crazy.

you made a great point. if its ur hometown. u have a bit of advantage over just being the "strange folks" that bought mr winkles dead brothers wifes daughters 4 acres left to her in the will....that someone else felt they shouldv rightly gotten...make sence?

i grew up rural ga. i know the mentality(reason i left, and them busting me and sending my ass to prison had something todo w/it too)

Yeah I put up with that small town BS growing up too. I was on first name basis with both the sheriffs and the city cops and it was like a game to see how much I could get away with. I didn't have to go to prison but I did manage to rack up a few K in fines and some probation before I bailed for the big city. They even offered me a clean slate if I would just leave town, which I promptly did.
A few of my buddies pretty much got the same offer though it was join the service or go to jail.

I agree, I grew up in a small rural town and everybody knew everybody and everybody knew what each other were up to. There is always lots of gossip in small towns and they can get you in trouble.
oh yeah and cops in rural places do get bored. the leader is right about that. where i am from ive seen cops set up check points on every road going out of town. they break the rules more often and dont follow the law as closely.
that sucks you didn't like western, nc though theleader. great place. check points or not its not enough to get me out of here.

Yeah for the most part I agree, everybody knows eveerybody, but i dont think its that hard, especially in a popular summerhome/getaway area, would explain why your there for only days at time every month or whenever. Just act like you would if it really was just your vaction home, get out say hi to the neighbors explain your cover story etc, let them see you doing stuff around your house maybe even enjoying the sites

its all in your behavior, now if really really remote then yah no point their gonna know.

My point exactly. You cannot just move in and throw down and expect nobody to be paying attention. Take a little time to get assimilated and more importantly, get to know the people around you and they will be your ally and not your enemy.

So in other words, you stuck out like a sore thumb? hehe. Say it aint SO!
I'm somewhat reclusive but I'm clean cut and live alone. I've heard rumors that I was gay because I've never been married and I don't hit on my neighbors wives. Of course the folks know zip about what I was up to during all those years that I was gone either so I don't let it bother me and I'm sure as hell not going to go around bragging about it.

Hmmm, wonder what happened to the OP? Lotta good insight here.

i think in ak they hated that i caught fish w/o anyones help. im a fishing person and am willing to give up food, sex, sleep ect to catch a good meal. plus i didnt do speed.

Yeah, kinda hard to be low key with a bus in your driveway.

I liked Ak fine for the 2 weeks I was there but it was summer and damned if I could adjust to all that daylight. I was eating xannax every night trying to get some sleep. I really would have hated winter there but not so much the cold as the dark. I probably would have resorted to speed too.
Fishing was great though. We were at a fly out on the Nugiak? river (bristol bay) and just POUNDED on fat bows, char and grayling. There was trip for kings but I didn't go as they weren't using fly rods and I'm kind of a snob when it comes to that.

I grew up in the city and now own a small farm way out in the country. Where I live there are fewer cops so odds are less that you get busted.
