I believe if you get stoned...you're a stoner. If you're a burn victim...then you're a burnout. nothing wrong with bein a stoner. Also I just think it's another word for pot head.

ive not seen a person who "just smokes weed" become a burnout.

...maybe i aint been around it long enough (15 yrs-ish) @ 35.

most "burnouts" ive met are fuked up on all kinds of shit like LQ, 'delics, hard shit we dont mention here, etc....

i've never seen weed alone make someone a "burnout"

people use the words STONER or POTHEAD and the like because the proper term IMBIBER OF THE GODLY CANNABIS NECTAR is too difficult for their feeble minds to conceive or even speak.

i smoke everyday and dont consider myself a burnout. i have met plenty of them but i never got like that.

i raise my children, work, tend to my garden, and write essays for my classes. never has my smoking of the herb interfered with this.

I smoked my first joint in '71....I was 11-- It has been a life-long affair for me--
I don't believe all ppl who smoke weed are Stoners...But there are a distinct and select few of us (ok...maybe a bit more than that...lol!!) that consider ourselves Stoners--
I had the "Stoned again" poster (The one with the melting face) when that was new...but I still feel the same-- I fucked up a bunch of my life with hard drugs...but the last 12 years I have been only doing the Ganja and drinking beer--
But being a Stoner is much like being a...Stoner!! Hahaha...there are no substitutes!!

I guess, to me, a stoner would be someone who has involved cannabis as part of their lifestyle and accepted at least some type of "culture" surrounding it for at least some point in their life(we all grow up) where as a pothead would be someone who just enjoys smoking some pot every now and then.

Again, this is a pretty subjective question that could vary greatly from person to person - these are just my thoughts

when I worked for UPS he guy that ended up being my manager went to college with me, and more specifically he was the roomate of my acid hookup. Anyways when I got hired on I realized who he was and we kinda talked about things. He told me one time, " I thought were were just some burnout" that was after I jumped him for a promotion that he wanted. Who the fuck cares what people label us?

IMHO, "stoners" are the people who flunk their classes/don't go to work because they're too high and don't care. They're the ones who don't do... well, anything.

I love a lazy Sunday, but even though I smoke grass, I don't think of myself as a stoner.

I think smoking weed makes you a smoker, but not a stoner or pothead. I smoke weed, but I dont hangout with stoners or pot heads. They are always broke and tend to be boring. Their whole day or lifestyle revolves around pot. Those people who would rather spend a sunny day on the couch, high. If you ask them to go out and do something with you, they cant because they spent all their money on their last bag. Or they are waiting (sometimes for hours) to score their next bag. If they do have money it takes them 20 minutes to find their wallets, keys, cellphone and lighter. And then they wanna use your cellphone to make calls because they are over their minutes. My whole day or lifestyle does not revolve around weed. Marijuana is a small part of who I am, but it is not what I am. I do like to bust out my best herb and smoke with people. Most people would never suspect that I smoke. It blows them away and can be kinda funny sometimes.

I am in no way shape or form flaming here. This just my personal opinion as a former stoner and pot head. Peace BG1.

I guess I consider myself a stoner but the term is very subjective. Every person has their own idea of what a stoner is.

I actually don't like hanging out with people that don't smoke weed. When it comes to people who smoke weed, I would rather hang out with a stoner than a casual smoker. I usually can find more to talk about, and I tend to fnd most non-stoners boring. I am one of those people who takes 20 minutes to find my wallet.
I am also one of those people BigGreen is talking about. I would rather stay home, smoke up, tend to my garden, and keep it easy. I have alot of friends who I smoke with that always want me to go do shit, but frankly I don't like going to partys, movies, or to hang out with people I don't know (usually). Sometimes I do and it is almost always dissapointing and even annoying. Almost 100% of the time, by "going out", they mean go drink and I don't drink too much.

I get called a stoner alot, and I am frequently asked if or when I ever do anything. But by "do things", people usually mean do things they like and that I find mindless and boring, like drink and socialize.
Point being. I find that people who call me a lazy stoner, are generally far less productive than me. Even if I am lazier than they are, I'm lazy about doing stuff I find stupid and pointless.

I will give you an example.
Some guy that i smoke with at school is always asking me to go out with him, but I always put it off cuz I don't feel like it. He said that I was a stoner and lazy(in a pretty nice way). I told him bla bla, school, bla bla, but he still thinks I am lazy but in reality I have far more commitments than he does, he just thinks I am lazy because I don't like to socialize and "party". I go to school full-time, tend my indoor and outdoor gardens, write for Z-Mag, and work(from home). But apparently being lazy has nothing to do with what you do, but more with how much you socialize, party, and act like a mindless fuck(no offense intended).

I am not the same as anyone else. Giving someone a label subjects them to being lumped into a category that they do not belong in.

For instance, I smoke weed. I love smoking weed. When I smoke, sometimes I smoke myself retarded, but most of the time I don't.
Other dumb assholes that also blaze happen to call themselves stoners (No I am not saying if you call yourself a stoner you are a dumbass) and they set the bar rather low for everyones perspective on us. The people you see on Cops with their wife-beaters and sagging gym shorts screaming about the injustices of being arrested for possession of less than a gram of bud do not help our cause.

I smoke my weed and that's it.
