might get expensive on the ac bill but it will work if your room is small.

If this is the one I've seen there (GE, about 5,000-5,500 BTU), it's really good for a small room like <150sqft, and it runs about 500w with the compressor going.

For the power bill, (((Watts*HoursOnPerDay*30)/1000)*YourRatePerKilowattHour)

For instance: 500w, on 12 hours per day, on 30 days a month, divided by 1,000 to achieve kilowatts, then multiplied by a rate of 15 cents per kilowatt hour would add maximum $27 to your bill. That's a scenario where the compressor will be running all 12 hours (super hot room).

Hope it helps

Hey everyone, wondering if you can help me out. I just made a small replica of the EZ cloner... ?

I used to clone in plain water (one of the best threads ever on ICMag IMO, thanks a ton caprichoso wherever you are!) using cups and it worked great here in the desert with no domes or special ventilation.

It was a hassle cutting out the foam doughnuts for the cups and I tended to knock them over once in a while though. So recently I made a couple bubble type cloners like the one Maj.PotHead did, no bubbler mine but it is working great so far:

After about 20 days of no roots I checked the water temp with an aquarium thermometer and it was only ~62 degrees F! So I put a 50W aquarium heater in the big one, got the temp up to 78F, and the roots have been shooting out! I've even been getting roots in the small one, the ambient temperature is warmer now, and it's probably getting some warmth from the big cloner. I've got no special ventilation, a 4" inline fan with carbon scrubber is in the room, and a CFL spotlight about 3' above the cloners.

I used a 1 1/4" drill bit (the cylindrical saw type) to cut the holes in the lid, used sections of foam pipe insulation made for 1/2 inch copper pipe (the type with no slit/adhesive, about $1 for a 6' length) to line the holes, and a section of 1/3 the circumference of the insulation to line the inside of the foam "doughnuts" to keep the clone leaves/upper stem out of the water, the clones are in the holes loosely held up by the foam, not snug. Removing the rooted clones is made easy by holding the stem and pulling the 1/3 foam piece out with tweezers (my furry paws are too big ). You can see a couple of the foam sections on top of the big cloner. It works great! :jump: If I was in a hurry to get clones I'd probably get a pump and bubble-stone, but no need for that so far.

Lookin good guys! This is my favorite time of year...sleep with the windows open, veggies start producing, fruit trees are growing, last of the cool-weather nugs get harvested!

Blueberry- You're safe to put them out as soon as there's no more frost. Depending on the strain, they'll do OK in the heat. Check post #186 by ResinRyder for plants that survived 120F summer heat...quite impressively!

Major- Lookin good. What is in that clone juice of yours?

Hello again fellow desert dwellers. I was in the local megamart grow supplies depot the other day and saw a guy checking out and seemingly puzzling over the various vent supplies and thought "hey that guy sure could be a stoner, perhaps a grower, maybe hes' even an ICMagger!" hehe. It could have been one of YOU maybe?

Anyhoo, I went ahead and modded my decrepit old swamp cooler by removing the burnt out motor and failing squirrel-cage type fan unit. I took an old 8" Fantech (17 years old!) inline centrifugal fan thats been sitting around, made a manifold out of some exterior grade OSB (oriented strand-board, a plywood like material) then stuck it up in there. It's sort of a mixed bag; the fan is 1.3 amps while the old 1/3 horsepower motor was 5.5 amps, they seem to move about the same amount of air though so that is just amazingly good, less than a quarter the power usage!

The downside is that the inline fan is incredibly loud near the inlet. The old unit was about as loud overall but the sound was more of a low rumble that wasn't too disruptive, the inline is like the roar of heavy machinery or a jet-engine, quite uacceptable to stand right under the vent, though unlike the old unit, I can barely hear it in another room if the door is closed.

I'm probably going to try and mod it further to reduce the noise; thinking about adding a DIY muffler, hanging the fan by bungee cords instead of the OSB hard-mount, and (thanks to the considerably improved handling of back-pressure of the inline centrifugal over the squirrel-cage fan) possibly adding a couple of air filters (prefilter and HEPA) at the inside vent.

Thanks for the help guys! I put my cloner in a new spot with only two 20w 6500k CFLs and the temps are 75-80 which is working for me. Roots are starting to show! :jump:

thx ES :rasta: that magic juice consists of

20 ml liquid karma
20 ml diamond necture
20 ml sweet
1 tsp pure blend grow
1 tsp seaweed extract
all above messurements are per gal water i get 99-100% sucess with the magic juice and with out it no dome my RH averages 15-20% yr round

good healthy clone will root w/in 10-14 days some little longer, clones taken during flower can take 6-8 wks to root. ive had them produce small pinky size nugget then root and had them take 6-7 wks to root because taken during flower.

I didn't ask that but that is interesting info anyhow. I've never tried to clone a plant in flower. I've found the water temperature can really affect the time to root for cloning in plain water. I do wonder how much bubbling the water actually speeds rooting, I'm sort of skeptical about it, maybe I'll get an identical tub and do a side by side test sometime...

bubbling the water helps keep a high oxygen content in the water thus droping the chances for root rot. i've honestly had cuts root in 5-6 days and be planted in soil i almost lost a fast veggn urkel pheno because of a move i done last yr. my nephew had the cut because i gave it to him so i took 6 cuts 3wks into flower. them cuts took 6-7 wks to root and 12 wks total to fully revert back to veg thrown prim n proper leaves:). well worth the wait

i was just answering oldpaths question :).

I've had clones root in as fast as 7 days in plain water. It usually took about 10 to 20 days in the past when I was using cups, occasionally it took up to 30 days or more when it was cold. With my new plastic tub jobbie I've got a heater in there and it seems to be speeding things up considerably, though I haven't done a run yet with the heater from the start.

I tried to link to this classic water cloning thread earlier (I even posted in there under my old nic ), seems like it didn't work: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=10827&highlight=cloning+plain+water

Very nice, Paco. I've got another 5 weeks or so to go on a bunch of Bubbleberry in DWC. This is the first time for me with this one, and frankly it's been kicking my behind. I think maybe I've gotten it figured now, but crap - what a learning experience this has been!

Paco  --Some smoove lookin ladies! I like how the color comes out heading into the home stretch.

Right on Maj! This is the best time to be chillin! Suck up the last bit of double-digit temps for a good long while!

So what's growin' on? I dropped 5 THUNKs a few days back. (THUNK= T-Haze x Skunk freebie...thanks NZjay for the nickname!) These have a little bit of a reputation for being difficult germers, but I now have 4 out of 5 little seedlings. Woot! 5 out of 5 Big Haze (Crazy X freebie) are FEMS!! And a roomfull of MOD's DreamGoddess from 2 different moms I kept from last year. Other than the purple kush I was gifted waaay back, the DG is my favorite plant to grow so far:

Utilitarian she is....Big yeilder, colors up nicely, purples when the conditions are right, 8 week strain, frosty, dense, prolly an 8 out of 10 in the stone department, and after a good proper cure, the aroma and flavors are up there with any top-drawer stash! If you ever run across these beans, drop a few, you won't regret it!

Vegging out a few of Rez's DSD. Got 1 male that I'm collecting pollen from and 5 unsexed younginz.

On the way as we speak is a pack of DJ's Grape Krush...I'm giddy like a giddy person!

Busy in the veggie garden, too. Anyone pull any tomatoes or strawberries yet?

Gonna be a great summer in the DSW! Post up, union! Let's hear whatcha got goin' on!

Hey joesy! Yeah, I emailed them and they started stocking up at Home DePot. $199 for the only unit they carry. The rest of HD has the MasterCools and Arizona whole-house units. I doubt I'll be able to pick anything up before summer heat...the tax man wants a kidney outta me and it's gonna take a few months for me to get caught up.

How long you gotta wait?

Man sorry to here about the kidney, I have heard of them getting arms and legs but now there going internal, greedy bastards. I got to wait a couple more months, just stock pilling seeds right now.
