When/How to pinch?

Hello there, I've been reading about bog's (barrel of green lol) recently, and well I think I'm gonna roll one out. Thing is I need to get the screen filled up, using only a 20w cfl and an 8" barrel about six inches deep. the screen will be mounted horizontally with the bulb inside it. A tray with two seedlings, will be placed below this, under the lowest point. I don't wanna be vegging for ages, really no more than three weeks. will I be able to pinch them with only a couple of leafsets, or will this just hold up proceedings. how does FIMing work, I know its similar to topping but more productive? could this help provide the bushes I'm after? Thanks, people!

my current grow ends friday, so any info regarding any low stress techniques will be appreciated. P.S. I know 20w ain't ideal but thats the challenge, I have to rise to lol!

Thanks GS, cool link! thats crazy just bending'em till they break, is that similar to pinching in its effect, ie two new branches, or does it just re-position an cause like an lst effect? do you think It would be safe to do that to a seedling? maybe that could be the way forward! All these training techniques are mad, I know somthing should be done, but I dont wanna shoot myself in the foot! Whats the youngest anybody has started training a plant, I know it would be best to wait a month then start training, but for a micro there ain't time/space to waste!

well im a micro grower got a box thats 3 ft tall for flower... and you just start doing this in around 3 weeks of flower... i pinch them and then after i pinch em i add string so they fill out my canopy... i got 5 girls in flower right now with only a 1 square foot canopy space and seems to be working right now... i wont be able to truly tell you till they are done.. but right now they seem to have stopped stretching so fast and are starting to get fatter buds... and plenty of room still so it should work... how much space are you working with??

sorry for the absence Ive been real busy!! Thanks for the posts mate, that sounds crazy!! I bet that looks like a real jungle!! so pinching and lst? do you always wait till flowering before commencing? What lighting do you use? Thanks mate.

Here's a lil bit bout my set-up, I haven't got a camera so no pics I'm afraid... The actual growing area is 6.5" deep x 9.75" wide x 13" high. the door opens on the 9.75 x 13 face, the light (20w daylight cfl) is mounted horizontally on the rear wall, slap in the middle (although if i can sort out a 35w cmh then thats what i'll be having), I intend to put my screen tube around this. There are two 40mm fans that circulate air, whilst a 90mm fan takes care of the exhausting bizniz. Intake is passive.
Ive recently constructed a bio-tub, consisting of a lunch box i found which fits perfectly in the bottom and is about 3 inches deep, small yogurt pots modified into nets pots filled with lava rock. with an air curtain. The seedlings are two magic bud fems, their sitting pretty in about 30ml of nice soil in the net pots, so far they look nice, despite me beheading one of them whilst removing the seed husk (what a twat). I hope this makes sense...

LST- light stress training
Its when you tie down branches to promote side growth to grow vertically. If you use the search feature, theres a ton of info on this site. Hope that helps.
