airstone location

I am setting up my DWC recirculating setup and was wondering can you just locate all your airstones in the res or must you have them in each bucket? It seems it might be important to have bubbles in each bucket during early growth as I see alot of people talking about the bubbles "misting" the small roots.

I'd like to have it just in the res, but I was unsure.

I am not an expert by any means so do some research but, from what I understand you must have them in each bucket so that the oxygen contained in the bubbles that are produced by the stone can be concentrated to the roots.

The only way to have too much air in DWC is....if your roots are dry

Really... I don't do the recirculation any more but when I did....

-Air in the reservoir to keep the anaerobic (without air) bad bugs down and continuously stirs your nutes.

-Air in the grow chambers for the plant's roots and the aerobic bugs (with air). Both, need lots of air. The good bugs help the plant assimilate the nutes and help prevent diseases and root rot.

I don't use recirculation anymore. I put a tremendous amount of bubbles in there and it "circulates it all the time". Add back water and different amount of nutes depending on the EC. I only change the reservoir twice not counting the original bath, once at beginning of bloom and once about 2 weeks before harvest to flush out the nutes from the plants.

Peace
