Looks like these holes are caused by some kind of bug or mite? Can anyone clarify? If so what kind? I check plants daily and never see any bugs on or under foliage.

don't know if you are joking or not but I disagree. Rarely have i seen a catapiller eat a leaf from the middle out, it's the other way around. They have to start at an edge.

I had a mother plant that produce more than one fan like that then it stopped. I never found any insects.

ive had caterpillers...chew straight thru my buds to the stem...then thru it too...
i dont think they HAVE to start at an edge...
i saw my first catterpiller of this year last week...outside.
if it is caterpiller...compleatly safe catterpiller killer is the way...fully spray plants...watch for em to fall...
AND those suckers are VERY HARD TO SEE...as they compleatly blend in to their surroundings...the ones that come off the purple plants are purple...smashed...even purple inside...whatever their eating...i think they look exactly like.
SHAKING the plant vigerously for a few min...will help a ton.... some, bugs will drop if you got em..P>joe
