Due to info I recently learned after looking at a few of the H&G nutrient schedules, (like this: http://www.house-garden.us/roots excel report.pdf) and they specifically warn against using an oxygen pump.

Good Catch..... :cuss:

If I can just get a table open for the next batch....

I know what yur thinkin :jump: extra ballast laying around, get a bulb and a tray and resie and....... :rasta: :headbange

Aloha! THe upoads are back on, so lets catch up, shall we?

Here's the next batch of MTF vegging good and strong. They're dining on Canna's complete coco schedule + Botanicare Cal/Mag & Sweet. They are thriving in my opinion, though I am a little biased...

Here's the flowering SDxSBBX3 at week3 day 6. I just gave hera little clean up (branch selection)

So lets see the flowering MTF... okay.

Here's a rondom one pulled off the table for pic purposes.

I like this pic...

Will have more, fresher pics later on today/tonight... gotta spray the plants with Neem, change out the veg rez (40g out, 40g in, equals 80g total. Workout time).

I think that last pic is pretty representative of the whole lot of 12... I scored getting a hold of this plant, for sure.

I have been told that I don't need to add it by some people "in the know", but I think my plants like the cal/mag at 5ml/G much more than when I wasn't adding it at all. I have a friend in norcal who has been growing for many decades, and he told me he adds 5ml cal/mag to everything up to flush.. he gets top dollar.

yeah im thinking the same thing but cal/mag is like rocking horse shit round these parts, the church im growing loves the canna just the way it is but the sativa shows defs all the time and ive tried altering the ph from 5.5 in steps upto 6.2 but still shows defs at every ph

Greyskull, you are the man! Your MTF looks great and I'm sure you will be very happy come harvest time. Exellent grow.

On a side note, is your MTF related to Alaskan thunderfuck?

hmmmm

hmmmm

Interesting...Personally I have read nothing but mixed reports. Ive heard that MTF is a hybrid sibling of the original and famous ATF, or that ATF just doesnt exist anymore, and even that MTF IS ATF....Greyskull would be the one to tell us.

By the looks of things, its sure to be one hell of a smoke... As we are seeing genetics and experience speak louder than folklore- Look at them things! :headbange

On a side note, I have seen growers turn perfectly good white widow genetics into moderately potent poo poo due to a learning curve! :cuss:

ITS LEGIT

ok, i finally got the chance to go through my books and the followng is from greg greens cannabis breeder's bible, pg 116-117, printed 2005

"MATANUSKA VALLEY THUNDER****

The matanuska valley in alaska is a wonderful place to visit. alaska became a very popular settlement for hippies who had left the cities in america and canada to travel the world. most of them wanted to grow pot when they got home from their tour of the globe and so alaska seemed like an interesting place to settle down in. today you find that alaska is home to a large cannabis community. it is very common to find whole villages and towns that like nothing better than to sit down and have a spliff. there are many people who live the hippie life in communes there or deep in the woods with their families in log cabins they have made. these people are not poor or neglected parts of the community. they are people who have chosen a more relaxing, natural and healthy way of life.

in the '70's, work began on a strain that could withstand the extreme climatic conditions of alaskan cold weather. since sativa and indica plants are rarely found growing naturally in the wild in countries that have a cold climate another species would have to be used. ruderalis is a very popular species of cannabis found in cold climates. ruderalis was used in the development of MTF because of its thick leaves and weather-proof sturdiness. the alaskan people started to cross ruderalis strains with high-yielding indica plants. the result was a new strain of the indica-ruderalis species called MTF.

MTF is very popular in canada and america because of its high-yielding produce and heavy stone effect. however the plant has auto-flowering values which do not make it very popular among all or most growers.

the other factor you should know about is that the original MTF is only available in clone format. there are no seeds because the original creator of this strain did not release seeds onto the market. the original creator of this strain probably found a good mother plant and did not true breed her traits because there was no need to do so if the clone format was the only release he or she was going to do. the original propagation of the strain took place in the matanuska-suisitna valley, and was done in clone format. since then many breeders have tried to replicate the strain by breeding more indica into the plant. i have heard many people claim that there is now a version of MTF called MT on the market. i have seen this strain and it appears to be a new hybrid version of MTF. it is more indica in appearance and contains to visible traces of ruderalis, although it does have a hint of some auto-flowering properties.

it is nearly always the case with successful clones. since clones do not require any homozygous breeding the breeder who wishes to continue the strain via cloning will have to work very hard to stabilize a hybrid strain of it. one possible way of doing this is to find one of the parent plants that the MTF came from. the parent could then be used in a backcross to create seeds that resemble the original MTF mother plant with some variations. the breeder could then try to lock down the traits that most represent the original clone mother. it appears that there are many breeders out there who are working on such clone strains. some of the most famous clone plants known to growers around the world are:

matanuska valley thunder****, cali'O, humboldt, chemo, g-13, bc big bud, champagne, willem's wonder, bc hash plant"

i got finger cramps now, going to go and hit a bowl or two....lol
got a little more info but this should suffice for now

That is sufficient MTF shaman!!!! Tight knowledge right there and I won't doubt you.

Great big buds oh my!!!! Holy shit those are bomin greyskull!!! They look very dense and super frosted for sure. Nice set if tops on that 11 I am guessing most of the plants have that much bud on them though huh??? Nice full shot! So after hearing that^^^^My Q to you is grey, where did your MTF come from?? PEACE HOMIE!

EDIT-
I have been told that I don't need to add it by some people "in the know", but I think my plants like the cal/mag at 5ml/G much more than when I wasn't adding it at all. I have a friend in norcal who has been growing for many decades, and he told me he adds 5ml cal/mag to everything up to flush.. he gets top dollar.

From my knowledge I have put together that I need cal mag around the fourth week of flowering. Why? Well after growing a few runs and seeing the leaves twist and bend at the ends, I did some research to find out that it is from lack of calcium, the magnesium helps the leaves not burn towards the end of flower from what I have seen in pictures and read at least......

I start to add a good amount of flowering nutrients during the fourth week, and that's when I noticed I'd get the twists and turns in the leaves. So from then on I have been using my cal mag + with my H&G nutrients on the fourth week, giving them 5ml the fourth week, then 5ml the fifth, then the sixth I bring it down to 2.5ml and add other additives as well. I try to keep it pretty low though with all the food I use. I don't have a PPM meter though ;)

Mahalos for the kind words.

pupufgiv came by earlier and thought they looked pretty nice, too. Maybe its the Canna Boost. Maybe its the genetics. Maybe its just good ol Greyskull? :nono: Maybe :rasta:

And yes, all 12 of them look like that. Its a sight to behold I am told.

Check out B7D5... from this morning!
Plant #8

I am just starting to get some red hairs... maybe 2 weeks until chop chop. And HASH HASH!

YES.

YES.

Between the amazing cola shots and the added educational info, I think the only thing that would make this thread better would be if I could roll it up and smoke it. :joint:

Thoughts on Table 2 & Triflex

Thoughts on Table 2 & Triflex

I thought I'd update everyone on table 2 - the triflex table.

For those who don't know/remember:
4x4/1kHPS
2 Grape Romulan
2 Purple Ice
1 Papaya
1 SDxBX3

Nutrients (ml per G)
Botanicare Cal/Mag 5ml
Botanicare Triflex Base 4ml
Botanicare Triflex Bloom 8ml
Botanicare Liquid Karma 5ml
Botanicare Sweet 10ml
Botanicare Hydroguard 5ml
B'Cuzz PK13/14 3ml

I think things are going okay, but the results thus far are nothing like table 1. Is it the plants? Is it the nutrients? I mean they are doing well and flowering nicely, with nice trichrome developement on the buds & leaves.. but its just not as impressve as the mtf/canna. Of course that table is almost at week 8 and looks killer and this one is only almost at week 5...

I do have some spider mites (argh!) that I cannot seem to get rid of, but they keep secluded to table 2. Maybe they like the taste of Botanicare better than Canna! I am pretty sure they are having some negative effect on things... but it not looking like I am going to lose my crop (thank goodness). The plants have been getting a spray of neem once a week and the mites just seemed to laugh at it... and the safer soap hasn't really gotten them the last 2 days. Time for more pyretheum total release foggers. We'll get them in the morning and then its bombs away and  mites. For a little while, ayways.

I am liking how the SourDiesel x SourBubbleBX3 is looking, but I am doubtful she will be a heavy yeilder (again, the MTF & table 1 is superior  ). But if she's descent and takes about the same finish time as the MTF then I will have to at least do a full dialed run (12) of her with Canna for sh!ts and giggles.

The Nirvana's Papaya is getting frosty and has some nice developement. The plant seems to be a yielder from the looks of some finished plants a friend of mine did.

Look how thin the branches are on the Papaya... and I supercropped them mofo's good, too. I am going to have to stake this one a few times!

The Purple Ice looks like a yeilder, too. But it also looks like a serious trim job. The mites seem to favor the 2 PIs. I know the smoke tastes mmm good.

Nice looking though, the PI is.

The Grape Romulans are gianormous... I swear they have moons that orbit. Thats a 5g bucket it sitting on... The circumference is pretty crazy... fat assed plants!

The bud sights are looking a.o.k. to me on the GR...

Here's the Chrystal in the 3g soil cotainer I have on the side...PBP soil schedule.
