How many watts are you running in the closet??? Multiply the total x 3.4 (btuh factor) for minimum sizing and allow for outside summer temps infiltration for the final sizing.

Window mount units work quite well as you need to have intake and exhaust for the hot air coming off the condenser cooling coils located in the back half of the AC cabinet.

How can anyone provide you with the EXACT one when nobody knows what you have??? Grow room size, ceiling height, how many room walls are exterior walls? lamps in use, other electrical devices in the room such as a dehumidifier, fans, etc.

A very general idea of where you're at, check the Farmers Almanac for Spring and Summer temperatures, go to the library if you are broke and read theirs Or you can do like so many do, grab one and pray it works------------and cuss like a trooper when it doesn't.

It's all mathematical, no numbers=no valid answers.

hey man thanks for quick reply, my room is a closet, about 8 feet tall, 6 feet length and 21/2 feet wide, i only have 1 four footer a little over 4 fter in there right now in DWC and i have one oscillating fan, i keep the door open whenever i can to let hot air out, its under a 400w hps floralux, not cooled, it can be but isnt right now, thats it, i want to get a little ac and small and cheap as possible to cool the room down for the last week or so of flowering, will that increase crystals by much or not really becuz i havent had it really cool from the beginning?

I doubt you need an AC. I use a 400w floralux for my moms in a much smaller closet and only use a fan blowing over the canopy.

0.4 kW x 3400 BTU/kW = 1360 BTUs.

The smallest ACs are usually 4000 or 5000 BTU.

If you don't have a place for proper exhaust, you won't be able to fit an air conditioner.

I assume you want to put the whole AC in the room, which will not work.

Heat can only be moved, not destroyed.

If you have room for an AC, use a proper exhaust fan instead.

If you get an AC anyway, any window unit model rated at 4000-5000 BTUs will work, and cost about $100.

Do not get one with electronic controls.

Gregor is right on the a/c and the $100 bucks and finding a way to exhaust the stale hot air is a must

build a box for it with intake and exhuast fans. I just had my friend throw one together for me and we installed it without a hitch. Seems to work good but Im gonna ditch the 180 cfm blowers I installed with it and swap em out for some blowers that move more air. My 5000 btu A/c was on sale over the winter for 60 bucks.

thanks all, im trying to just freeze my whole room, that will work without an exhaust ive seen it at my friends house and stuff, it wouldnt be hot air anymore it would be COLD air in the room correct me if im wrong? what else would i need i do see the point in the exhaust part, unless ur trying to get fresh cold air.

400 watts would be easier to use air cooling. Saves monthly compared to the A/C which can be complicated to set up. Stand alone A/Cs increase humidity, and you'd need to build a box for the window a/c and vent everything. Not to mention running ducting out into your bedroom. For under 200 you could get a fan and a air cooled hood or tube. Pop a hole in the wall or the ceiling into the attic. Just think it's easier that way. :joint:

Just go with a cool tube. You can make your own cheap and you can make it dual purpose leave the intake end open and it will remove hot stale air as well,of course then you need an intake. You could use dry ice,if your just doing it for a couple days like you said.A side bonus to the dry ice is that its pure co2 and would make a lot of good environment for ur frosty girls.:)

thanks alegoblin, ill look into that, if i just put a shit load of dry ice in my closet to make it cold and co2 in there it will be very beneficial?

well, he did just say that in a nutshell. but remember dry ice will only last for a couple days if you buy enough, itll be hard to regulate temps, and you will need to buy more if you want it over the course of weeks and not days

A single 400 watter in a room will heat it up nice and warm if it gets anything like the summers in Kali. You could probably do a cool tube and exhaust into the attic (scrub the air first) to get rid of heat, or you could probably get a decent 8000 btu window A/C that will kick ass. Look online at prices then check out home depot or even sears had some good feedback on their kenmore line of ac's. put a small window fan on low above the ac to provide some fresh co2'd air, set the ac and ferghettaboutit! portable ac's suck and are super expensive and dry ice sounds like a pain in the ass to pickup every week. Good Luck :rasta:

Cold air comes out one end, so heat must come out the other.

I have seen completely sealed rooms running 25 plants in SOG (meter square x 6' tall) with a 5,000 btu widow unit with a 1000w HPS running CO2 put out up to 2lbs. every 2 months....on the regular. However, it was a vented hood w/ glass, sealed off, hooked up to a 6" blower. No room exhaust though.

?????? Don't know....just know it worked.

If you have a AC vent in that room then just run a splitter into that closet through the ceiling. THis will take care of a 400 watt.. Make sure that you have a exhaust. Panasonic Quiet Fans are only $88 and you can also run one of those .. You have to mount it on the wall inside the closet.. With a AC vent in there and the fan pulling hot air out you should be gravy.. This is the cheapest way.. The AC ducting should only be lke 20 bucks..
