Tips on drying seeds after harvest

I'm doing a seed run at the moment and I wanted to know of any methods for speeding up the dry time.

I found 2 months after harvest in somewhat cool conditions allowed 60% to germinate. That won't cut it this time around. 2 months is the absolute maximum I can wait. Planning a late season "mini" run.

Thanks in advance.

use you hygrometer to determine where your driest area is. it's best for dark, well vented areas. don't put the seeds in a container, just expose them to the dry air. relative heat or warmth won't hurt as long as they're not left for more than a few months. good luck!

Here is something crazy i did and it worked.

I was making Lowryder 2 seeds, and because i didnt care about the smoke, i just let the plant keep on growing 3 weeks after i "could" have harvested for seeds because some friend told me to wait till they fall off the plant.. lol

well, after harvest i let them dry inside the weed until the weed was crisp.. and they work 100% when i select them :). Ive sprouted over 25 now. (65% female)

The point is.. you cant harvest seeds too early, id let them grow a while longer than people say for a good viable load of seeds.

I hope you get a nice batch there, best of luck.

I wouldn't say that's crazy MRMcBean (fix that typo you made , it is very easy to pick your seeds too early) . If the seeds aren't poking through the calyxes , they ain't ready yet . Leave the seeds inside the plant to dry . Leave the seeds inside the plant when you cure . Separate when you smoke your weed .

I dry my weed in the attic with no climate control . Temperature and humidity fluctuates with the weather . Only in cases of high humidity do I turn on a fan . 14 days is my average hanging time followed by two-four days inside a paper bag before going into the jars . As of yet I haven't had any germination problems from the seeds I make . I'd say next time you make seeds , make sure the weed is dry before putting it in a jar . From my experience temperature doesn't have any effect on seeds , but humidity/moisture does .

I keep them in envelopes when ever I pick them out of my bud. when buds are drying they fall off if they are full of seed. But I have never on purpose made seed mine came from plants that herm in late flower. which pisses me off but I am grateful the next year.

Speed Queen beans practically "falling out". I let all my beans dry in the husk and remove them only when I go to smoke. I got 10/10 on my Master Kush that just germed.

After hanging in the plant for a week after harvest, I pulled some WW x SSH seeds and wrapped them in a paper towel--left them in my bud storage unit (40F, 25%RH) for a month. 100% germination. Healthy seeds will always have better germination rates than dry seeds, but you'll do best with both.

Is it pretty common for the Calyx' to turn brown upon the female being fertilized? I had a friend tell me his did, and this run I had a hermie that dusted one of my girls a bit...about 4-5 days later they started turning brown..

Is that something pretty common?

Oh you'll love the smoke of the DSD. When I read that REZ wasn't going to make them anymore I dusted 3 of my girls and got well in excess of 200 keeper beans. In fact I just had Master Kush that I harvested in Dec beans just go 10/10 on a new grow.
Rez's gear is exceptional. My friends liked DSD so much that they smoked it all. But what are friends for?
