Elf Carbon scrubbers???

Hey all.......Currently growing in a Secret Jardin DR80(about 50 sq. ft), about 4 weeks into flower and it's startin to stink.....Well I plan on buying a Elf Scrubber and a 4 inch Vortex/Elicent. Anyone have an Elf Scrubber?? How are they? I am looking to get at least 6 months out of it, before replacing with a new one. I don't mind having to buy one every 6 months, especially cause they are kinda cheap. Any input would be greatly appreciated...Happy growin everyone!!..........Thanks......Wedgey

I would go with the Can Fan and carbon scrubber combo. These work great and are much better than some of the smaller scrubbers. If you get the scrubber make sure you go a little bigger than you need. That way you know for sure your smell will be taken care of. Stay away from the odour sock, I have heard nothing but bad about that.

TGT.....Thanks for the quick reply.....I know the those combo's are good, but the reason I like the Elf, is that it would fit nicely into the exaust socks of the DR.....I am only running a 250hps with 4 plants, so I figured the Elf would work nicely in the small area!! Yeah I head those odorsocks were crap.

Wedge,

I was going to go that same route, but I decided to build my own 6" x 30" scrubber and buy a seperate 6" vortex fan. Also my tent is smaller than yours. I was going to get yours, however I ended up with an HTGSupply.com small tent because the DR80 went 10" deeper than I needed.

Anyways, I spent about $60 building the scrubber and buying carbon on ebay, so it ended up costing me less than the Elf. I also snagged a Vortex on eBay for $80, so that helped as well.

Just an idea, but if you want to go that route let me know and I'll post my personal parts list and suggestions.

By the way, the 4" + Elf would work, don't get me wrong, but I think if you built your own scrubber, your just basically buying yourself more time before you have to refill the carbon. This is because you can build one bigger than the elf.

Alien......Thanx for the reply.....I would personally like to stay away from DIY, for the fact that I'm not the most handiest in the world, even if it is easy for the normal person....lol I defintly do appreicate the offer though.....I think I will get the Elf....I was lookin at the HTG tents as well, probably the same 1 as you(36"X20") but went with the DR because I liked those exaust socks..Wow you run a 6" vortex!!!. Alot of air in your room!!!!...lol..The DIY will defintily last longer, but If I have too buy 1 Elf(about $60USD) every 9 months or so, I definitly don't mind...considering I pay $60 for an 1/8 of headies now....Thanx again though for the assurance on the elf.....Happy growin!!.....Wedgy

Yeah, because I am closet growing, I needed the exact dimensions of the HTGSupply tent. The 6" Vortex is overkill, but you should see how much negative suction I can generate in that tent. :)

So Wedge, whatcha thinking about growing?
Are you leaning more Indica than Sativa or what exactly are your tastes?
I am curious, since I am almost finished with my clone box and then I will turn into one of the ones on this forum that had finally finished all construction related issues and is wanting to BS about strains. :)

Wedge - The Elf Carbon scrubber is a good choice and it's relatively inexpensive. I run mine on a speed-controlled 4" vortex and it gets the skunk out very well. I've had air pulled through and pushed through and both ways work fine. I grew in a Hydrohut mini but the canvas discolored my plants. I'm waiting for my DR80 in the mail as we speak.

Here is a pick of my Elf without pre-filter above the HH mini:

The Elf and the bigger one, the Goblin both work well. They were both designed for grow tents, lighter weight than the CAN filters regular line. They use the same thickness of charcoal as the CAN filter 38 special line. I think it is about 2 inches thick all the way down. No problems with either filter here, I like them both.

How was the Nirvana NL and WW
I just got my NL and WW Fem seeds from them and am looking forward to growing them. But not as much as smoking them
Hope you get your tent
Happy growing

I orderd an Elf from BGH and after waiting more than a month for it to arrive I finally received an email from BGH stating that they were out of the Elf filters and it would probably be a while before they were able to restock, so would I mind receiving the Dutch Breeze equivalent.

This is the one they sent me - http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/itemdesc.asp?ic=AOCDBDFS02&eq=&Tp=

Its been a little more than 6 months now so its due for a change but I am very pleased with the performance I got out of it.

BTW I have it hooked up to a 140cfm Dayton pulling air through it.

I only had one surving female from each so only have one pheno of each to play with, both started indoors under fluro then put outside to finish the NL was a racey head high due to me not giving it enough time but it was a really got sativash high from an indy plant. The white widow was awesome it was a skunk pheno would have liked to have a white pheno but it was a damn heavy stone and i let it go into november while i smoked on the NL that was 16" tall an yeilded 2 dry oz's.... the white widow also yeilded 2 oz and would have yeilded more if i gave it better light and didn't top it 1000 times.

only surviving OG bud shot of the NL early in flower

^I forgot to say, that's a nice looking grow. I love the vertical cfls and light spacing, very efficient!

Cheers,

I got the Elf/no-name 4" fan combo from HTG and was somewhat disappointed to see how small and light the Elf was. Compared with my old Can 33 (six-inch flange and over 16 lbs of carbon), this Elf is a Dwarf! I think I should have bought a 4" Can filter. I see now that Md Hydro has two regular size 4" Can filters for about $40-45 each. I think I blew it :puppydoge

^^Yeah, I'm sorry to say that the elf's are crap. I liked it at first, when my girls were in veg, but as soon as I hit flower I knew I was in trouble. I ended up venting out my window and I'm okay - and for my other tents I bought a CAN and made a filter(works the best of all of them, so far). I even tried using TWO elfs at the same time and could still smell two sativas......sigh.
