My first Hydro grow!!!

Well Dr.D's cheap easy hydro thread got my attention. So I put together a 3gallo n size. Seems to be working great so far. Had a ph problem but A few ic members help out and got it to 6ph from 7.6. Lights are 2x70w hps and 4x13w cfl. Three pumps 2 air stone ,1 bubble disk, and 1 pourous 2ft tubing tons of bubbles. For nutes i'm using floranova(lots of good feedback on the simplicity). The test run is from some bagseed and looking good so far. If all goes well I have some pappya seeds comming and they will get put in the next bucket. I'm gonna run two at a time in the cab it's two level's.

It is exciting and these plant are taking well to the transfer. They were in perlite til i set up the bucket. transplanted in to hydroton and just perking right up. already a nice new tip grew since last nite on each plant. and the seedlings in the empty looking basket popped there heads out over nite. Remember this is a test run just to see how it works out, but so far so good. Question anyone else just drop seeds into the hydroton and sprout them right in the buckets or should they be sprouted first then put into the system. Eventually I'll be using just clones once i have a good mom from the pappya seeds I ordered, just wondering about starting them fight in the system.

its a good start! you might try making some homade reflectors for thosw hps lites...

looks good, i see 2 air hoses going in the bucket! I would put the cfls as close as possible maybe on the sides direkt by the mirror.. but thats just me..

One other tip that I noticed from the pics - you may want to look at using some panda paper (or other light blocking vinyl) to cover the top and sides of the 5gal bucket... unless you painted it. The reason is those things (including lids) are generally not light resistant...so before ya know it, you'll have fungi growin all throughout the rez and root rot will set in.

I just duct tape the black vinyl wrap from home depot... nice big roll for cheap cheap.

Thanx for the input I'm gonna cover the bucket asap. Putting the cfl's on the side interesting I'm gonna think about that, I have another 4 outlet cord that I could use and add 2 to each side or 1 all around bulb's that is.Again thanx for the input all I've gotten lot's of good feedback on icm.

Good start. I was wondering how many 4 inch net pots fit in a 5 Gal.

I put 3 in but i think that you might be able to put 4 your gonna have to quater the inside of the bucket so roots don't get tangled. I'm making something to split mine into thirds using plastic posterboard I got at the grocery store. If I put clones right in 0n 12/12 2 buckets 3 clones each I think it should work nicely.

btw I'm using 3 gallon right now the lids are inter-changable so if need be I can just set up a 5 gallon and switch tops I think!!!!!

Vbp6us, They would fit it would be close but they would fit. I rebuilt things last nite no more buckets. Now just one 10 gallon tub. Got my seeds yesterday and germing three as of last nite. Can't wait everything I've read so far about "pappya" seem's like this is the perfect strain for me!!!!! Well I'll post pic's later I have a few things to finish up before I do, so peace out all!!!!!

Ok so once again I rebuilt it lol. The last tub expanded out and I couldn't close the doors . So two new 34 liter tubs I added some lights(ghetto I know) 5 13w cfl's that I can raise as they grow. Found some wrap I could use at the dollar store for the white tub's so no light leaks.the three bag seed plants are doing good root's are finally popping out the bottom. I put one seedling in to see what happen's( nirvana pappya). I'll post pics when the upload option work's.

a grow room is never finished you will find yourself tweaking for the rest of your growing days lol or atleast that is what happened to me...its like a snow ball the more you grow the more you see what could be better it is never ending labor of love...peace

Oh wow. You changed your setup completely. That's cool. I don't think I am going to do the 5gal bucket thing either. My setup works for now.

Ok here's some pics finally. Everything is going good so far. The pappya seedling is doing good so I think I'm gonna trash two of the worst(not that any of them are doing bad) bagseed plant's to make room for the other 2 pappya seedling's.







So off to a good start. Question back a few years ago on og when I was doing soil grow's it was ok to train plant's right from the start. My question is this, Is this accecptable in hydro growing also? I used to get some weird looking plant's tying tips over right from the start, but really good end results. Just throwing that out there for some feed back.

Well pipedream's system is what I'm looking for after reading his very informative
thread http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=21514 I decided to go out (To the dollar store no less haha) and buy the containers and top's . 6 buck's and I got what I needed and with what I have here this is what I came up with.





















Ms. baggy is well the bag lady of the bunch, And the other three we'll name later gotta get to know them first. So any input would be nice I really think besides tweeking a bit this is what I'm gonna stick with..
