OI !!!! lost an eye the other day

can anyone tell me was it something i might have done ?
or does this just happen sometimes
his eyes did always stick out a bit

i know this for a fact because fish are attracted to their own species eyes.

i'm gonna give you guys a "fishing tip" that ive never seen printed, never heard anyone else speak of either (i'm sure it has, but i've not seen it ever mentioned anywhere)

note: I'm a "meat fisherman" so i keep what i catch and eat, i dont "sport fish" or "fly fish".....this technique isnt for sport/catch-release fishermen unless your pretty damn sadistic.


this is a little thing i came up with while ice fishing walleye and yellow perch (but have also used it other fisheries)

-first I catch 1 fish w/ bait (leech, worm, grub etc...) easy peasy japaneasy.

-now as long as you have sharp hooks you have unlimited bait.

-get out your fillet knife, and cut out the fish eye (super easy...there is just a small "tendon type" thing to cut just behind the eyeball, and the eye will fall out whole.

-put that fish eye on your sharp bare hook, and every fish in the area will hit it.

-works great to put real fish eyes on lures and worm rigs too

Thanks, I have never thought of that. I have ran out of crickets when they were biting and caught them with a cig.butt , great tip I will remember it. peace

Well damn, I never heard of that one. I'm gonna have to try that. And yeah I fish for food, fishing for "sport" is for suckers.

its the floros and pearl in the eyes....almost nothing to do w/ scent.

LOL......Well,its a freshwater tank so I dont believe the crab is real(fiddlers got 1 huge claw),not to mention if it was and it was quick enough to grab a swimmin eye it would have that fish.Number two...them bugeye goldfish always have cataract troubles,owned dozens of them over the years and they all get the white eye...I consider them disposable fish.Either that or you got a case of Ick and soon everythings gonna go south.that eye fell out and is rotten on the bottom of your tank,contrary to what some like to believe....goldfish dont eat eyes!!specially cancered up white ones.

oh my poor fish
the tank is kept clean so i hope its not ick
i knew about using eyeballs for bait too
used to work in a slaughter house for chickens
and collected there eyes for bait in my early twentys

ha but i did not think it would come up in this thread
