Ive gotten really tired of trying to piece together stories about old strains and was thinking that it might be a good idea to have a resource with the actual histories of some strains, rather than the bs talk that some teenager's friend's friend told them that they read out of a hightimes.

Im not sure how this could be done (maybe links to past threads that explain a strain, or just copying the info from the thread to this one), but it would be a great way to reduce confusion and reduce the # of threads posted asking questions about various "mythical" strains

a few examples of strains that im refering to are

haze
purple haze (way too much bad info on this one and no real info anywhere)
g13
kush/diesel (amero)
snow
mass super skunk

I think it could be possible to make, mayby there won't be every types, but these the most known... why not?

i cant even imagine how much strains are out there , and you talking about a family tree??!?!?! i mean they do belong to the same family and there are crosses out there , dude but ,, a family tree?!?!?!?!
..my belief is that an ACURATTE one cant be made and the ones that can be made are not worth making .....

there is not such thing as once and for all ......not from a long time now.....

therein lies the problem!

everything is not compiled together. also determining what is good info and what is a load of bs can lead people to keep spreading misinformation

the haze sticky is what kind of got me on the idea of this...


the fam tree would be a good idea, but probably limited to a few specific strains
The goal would be something like:
"such and such is a cross of a Brazilian indica from such and such area with a south indian sativa of such and such origin, which was then crossed to an afghani of such and such origin"


this helps prevent confusion with things such as this:
super skunk (Sensi) is skunk #1 and afghani

mazar (Dutch passion) is skunk#1 x afghani

which is which and what is what? okay maybe the afghan in mazar is from mazar i sharif? maybe the one in super skunk is too?


are both from the same or similar parents? who knows? these are the kind of issues I do not like because there are so many types of cannabis even in one region.
you also end up with less confusion on things like the products of MNS and GHS. because they are so similar yet NOT the same.

if anyone has any more organization ideas for this please post 'em!

the difference there my friend is

Sensí´s super skunk ´gani parents where collected on a trip to the middle east in a certain region i sure dont know about , ,,

and mazars ´gani parents come from the MAZAR E SHARIF region of afghanistan ,, wich i believe is not the one the sensi gani come from ,, it may be as u say but ,, there are all kinds of 'ganis there ,, come on it´s afghanistan !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!hahahahaha
, so chances are they dont have the same parents my friend ,, i can bet on that ,there are SO many INDICAS there , ,


,, ,the search field is there buddy and there are vendor forums grower forums and a lot of forums with info on that kind of stuff that could help u ,, u really just need to put something adecuate on the search field ,...



personally i find INDICAS as my favorite plants !!!!!!!!
if u get the right one the high is DEADLY !!! jajajajaj ,, and most of them have this coooool look to them !!!! and off course ,, the buds !!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever seen a "family tree" e.g. for of jazz music? Do they breed styles of music..? Are there all artists?

They only made some kind of construction. I'd like to see the same skeleton of cannabis.

the strains i listed were listed as examples not as something i was trying to find out about

this was all an idea i was throwing around. i know how to use the search i thought it would be a whole lot more useful than just some strain guide that gave generic information. the better the data can be collected and organized the more everyone will benefit.

it surely is an excellent idea, but there are a couple things youll need to consider:

- you must be the one to take responsibility for updating/editing post #1 in this thread to contain all of these stories or links to same. editing every week or two at most indefinitely is needed here. being relatively new to the boards you must make an ethical decision here whther u feel u are up for the task.
the other option is starting a new thread where the 1st post is going to contain all the links or stories. i suggest links. if no link exists, create a new thread with it copied over from the description thread. ya with me? :smoking:

- knowing yourself the true stories from the bullshit. this should probably be left to someone like cbf or schrooomy420, but hey if you think you can handle it and dont mind being schooled by old heads on the real deal, and changing (editing) your 'true' story as per their sage, then go for it. in other words, if yer not an open minded and/or generally a tyranical type of person, this may not be the best thing for you.

really, if you honestly think you will be in strife 'choosing sides' as to who's version of the 'story' is true, then dont take the gig. imho.
