why are not more companies using hemp in ther products .i was watching the view this morning with my mother and thay wher showing a line of clothing using hemp as a green alt to other fibers .and the clothing looks good if not better then any cloths i have seen using cotton.and is ther a link to wher i can buy hamp cloths on the net.wher i live its hard to find clothing made of hemp.and when you say hemp it gets a bad rap how stupid are people exspecialy old people .

I have a hemp t-shirt and it feels so nice and light, I also like the feel.
I think years ago they used to make rope and all sorts of things out of it.
I forget why many stopped using it, but they should deffinately start using more cos I like hemp clothes.

Now all you have to do is explain that to the politicians...

But when I see things like this: "Farming 10,000 Acres of Hemp Will Provide as Much Paper, Building Materials & Pulp as 41,000 Acres of Forest."
— Source: US Dept. of Agriculture USDA Bulletin 404

I can't help but feel a little pissed. We cut down all our natural forests and destroy our landscape when hemp can produce 4x the amount of paper products as trees. And it grows back every year!!!

Fuck the drug war and these politics killing our earth.

Legalize hemp!

hemp is the roots and fibers of the cannabis plant.

First, hemp and the cannabis plant as we know it are not the same thing. Hemp has minimal amounts of THC. So technically it is a cannabis sativa variety, but not the same one people grow here at IC. Last time hemp and the psychoactive cannabis strains got lumped together, it was made illegal. (both of which are some bullshit...)

It's not legal if you buy the products or the seeds or the fibers and have it imported to the US. Hemp products are legal.

If you grow it in the US, it is largely illegal. Many states have passed legislation in order allow 'research into it's uses' but it's been 8 years or more since some of the laws were passed and it is still illegal to grow hemp.

Just seems like a bit of a double edged sword. You can import hemp products from other countries, but don't think about growing hemp and stimulating the economy to provide hemp products without having to import it into the country.

Hemp and cannabis are a bit different, like NYCD and LUI are different.

Hemp plant will grow GIANT with A LOT of hard stems and few flowers, while cannabis will grow shorter with more and better budsites.

Hemp is not that widespread bcuz it's bullshit.

Yeah in many cases it would be useful as a source for fiber products, but nowdays the human being know way better plants.

It's a right to fight for the hemp, but it's not such a big deal.

not a big deal?
it can power cars man!
you can manufacture many products with it.
it is more efficent than any other crop in an industrial respect.

set me str8 if i am wrong, what are these better plants?

The whole "War on Drugs" crap was actually started in 1937 by William Randolph Hearst and the Dupont Corp. It was not a war against psychoactive varieties of cannabis, but against industrial hemp, which had been grown in this country since our earliest beginnings. At one time, it was mandatory for each colonist to grow hemp. The decision to ban "marijuana" was an economic decision favoring DuPont and Hearst, enabling them to continue to make tons of money from wood pulp paper and the acid/bleach whitening process used to make paper white. You can get 4x the pulp for paper from hemp than you can from trees over a 20 year span, and wood pulp paper can be recycled 1 time, whereas hemp can be recycled up to 7 times.

The U.S. is the only modern nation that does not allow the growing of hemp. Canadian and EU standards call for less than .3% THC in hemp. The main cannabinoid in hemp is CBD, a non psychoactive cannabinoid. Hemp products may be imported into the U.S.( we get tons of it from Canada), but hemp is illegal to grow here. The Lakota have tried 3 times, but the DEA has ripped their crop each time. Hemp seed may be imported into the U.S. to be used as bird seed, but it must be sterilized before it comes into the country.

Hemp fiber can be used for clothing and construction material. It is stronger than cotton, but not as soft. It wears much longer than cotton, and the fibers get stronger with age, while cottons fiber gets weaker. Levi Strauss made his original Blue Jeans with hemp fiber. Mercedes make dash panels from hemp fiber, and several countries are looking at making composite building panels from hemp. Hemp seeds contain 30% oil and are high(20%) protein. Hemp seed oil is used for cosmetics, biofuels, ethanol and for making plastics.

Hemp is probably the most economically desirable and versatile plant on the planet, and it is illegal in the U.S. to grow it.

Hemp is illegal to grow/cultivate in the US without a permit.

However, it is not illegal to make products with hemp, provided you buy it from outside the country or from a farmer who has a permit.

It is legal to possess, use, wear, eat, whatever. Just not to grow it in the US without a permit.

You could smoke it too, but it won't get ya high.

Beta Vulgaris can produce fuel in a way more environment-respectful manner: more fuel for less energy deployed in the task.

Hemp is awesome...I bought some hemp seed massage oil for my girlfriend and the stuff works amazingly well!

Does anyone know where I could find some nice hemp clothing? I know of the Hempest only, and it's pretty damn pricey there.
