I don't veg indoors, i gem them inside and then plant them in pots outside til they are about 1in; then i put them in the ground. I can't afford to grow inside for security reasons and that my family might get a bit ticked off. I think of creative spots like my bbq grill.
You've asked a big question really. One Ive been studying for a while. Theres another thread on page 2 or 3 that discusses this very issue.
My personal beliefs are this:
Its always a mistake to try and veg a strain for months before outdoor planting and usually results in the plant begining to flower prematurely, hermies and all kinds of problems. 45 days is the absolute limit in my mind but 30 is my real limit. Im sure others may have different views.
The perfect approach in my mind is :
Germ the seeds inside, .(you can germ them outside with no problems) until they pop the soil and then immediately move them outdoors and leave them there,( unless the nightime cold makes you bring them in). I usually try to veg them 21 days before transplanting them to their final destination. I add 3 days to germinate plus 21 days. I subtract 24 days from my last frost date and thats when I pop the seeds
You can veg indoors as long as you want... the real problem is matching light cycles. If you veg for a month under 24/0 then put outside in may (14/10) there is a possibility of early flowering triggered by the big difference in photoperiod. Veg at 16/8 and there is a much smaller difference... days will be getting longer in may you should be fine. I'm doing a month seed veg indoors.... top/clone then outdoors... clones/topped put outdoors/ tops cloned etc. This way space is well used and plants get out nice and early.
I picked up a SUNBLAZE 44 for VEG for for a mother... I'm new at this and Ijust NEED to do it off the hook.. Being a female in this male green world is a trip.
