and couple more...Over water like I say is a HUGE problem with this mix. It will cause all kinds of diff chit to your ladies. Yea I love the Kush....some of the best weed IMO. There are more out there that im going to be giving a run like trinity, green crack, Grandaddy, 4 diff OG's, cheese, A walker, G Goat, soul assain...hmm some more to come.

Cool cool, so with the over watering thing do you basically let the ladies tell you when their thirsty rather than always refilling their glass???

Nice line up by the way.....Yum

I do the pot lift method. I tried to let the plant tell me but by the time they do its a lil late IMO. I usually water from 3 to 4 days on average. Every watering I do a 5-10 % run off. These waterings are going to be diff in the stages of growth of course so watch it. Yea im lucky to have good friends here in cali I owe them a lot for the kind and help! Mang this party I went to this weekend had some bomb dank huh Rollin. An 18 strain test I was part off....wow Im still high. We had chemD, blueberry, Bubba, OG, OG, OG, sssdh, purple kush, mango haze, and much more not to mention some off the hook med food and hash..WOW it was nice!

Cool I like the pot lift method as well, that what i figured but didnt want to imply I would rather hear it from the horses mouth...Thanks...

I am gonna run my mix MSM mix and two of Burn 1's mixes as a side by side comparison...I will make an effort to collect photos and document them along the way......It may all be posted when the grow is done..

I'll keep every one updated...

Wuz up everyone, I just wanted to post some results of the updated version of the msm. I think the mix has way less nitrogen now. You might wanna use the POM dry ferts because I think it definitly needs it. The POM starter mix makes a big differenece in veg, gives the mix a good source of calcium. I just transplanted some 1 week old seedlings from peat pucks to the mix with just the POM starter mix Ph'd at 6.5 .They look very healty with no burn. I also just transplanted some girls in the full mix with the POM Fruit and Flower Ph'd at 6.5. 2 Weeks later flowering in the mix they look very strong. I really think the key to the MSM mix is to ph the water.

Updated Version
1 Ocean Forest
1/2 bag Light warrior
1/2 bag of Planting Mix (or happy frog)
1/3 of a bag of the Chunky perilite (approx 5 gallons)
1 cup of starter POM in veg
and for the flowering mix I add 1 cup of POM fruit an flower.

i'm about to finish a grow with multiple strains that were originally put in an equal mix of 1 bag FF ocean forest/FF potting soil/FF lightwarrior/3 gals of FF chunky perlite. I was told but a user here not to worry about ferts and topdress with POM fruit and flower. Boy am I sorry i listend to that person. I've had nothing but ph/nute difficienies throughout the entire grow.

I strongly recommend that POM or dolomite lime + teas be used all throughout the grow if your using a combination of the three bags listed. I think the biggest problem is ph issuse and low calcium in the soil which causes magnesium diff and so on.

I've amended many of the plants with dolomite lime and hit them with teas and they are looking so much better, i only wish i would of done it a few weeks earlier when it might have made a huge difference in yeilds. I guess it's a lesson to not get carried away in either the hydro hype or some fad organic recipe and always question what people tell you.

I think you just pinned the tail on the donkey. I just added 1/4 cup of dolomite lime to the updated version, seems to be working well sofar.

Okay first of all I want to say moonshine man you are a god amongst men lol. But seriously thanks for this. Im growinga bubba kush. My mix consists of: Light warrior, Ocean forest, black gold, and one coco brick. Couple of questions, why did you take the coco brick out of your revised recipe? How important is it that I get the big perlite? Is there enough perlite in the ff soils that I will be alright? And how much should I be watering an outdoor plant? It is just a little baby right now going into the mix tomorrow so for my first watering in the ground how much water are we talking? I know it is recommend to start in small pots and work your way up but I’m just gonna stick them in giant holes filled with the msm, any thought or recommendations on this? If I get the pom veg should I add it to the soil mix or include it in the first watering? And then on top of this I need to add some more at day 30 of flowering? How do I add the pom flower, first watering?

i started my first grow using tips i found in this thread, so big thanks first of all. it's been pretty easy going so far but now i'm running into problems in flower and i'm wondering if any of the moonshiners in here will take a look at my thread in the infirmary: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?p=1696831

basically i'm using ocean forest, black gold and light warrior, with an organic 4-8-4 fert that i applied as soon as i switched to bigger pots and 12/12. the plants were going great but now the flowers are growing very strangely.

I was having def issues with my last grow, i was ph'ing everything as told to and still wierd problems.

In the middle of this grow, i added some dolomite lime and started giving half of my watering with water at a ph of about 8 and the other half with EJ nutes at like ph 3.5 and things are growing great.

Throw out those ph meters and add dolomite lime!!!

Wow!!! 1/4 cup per container!!! that is crazy overfert. I would chop all of those plants and start over, now way are you fixing that. You should use maybe a tablespoon per 1gal pot of dry ferts.
I've found that i like using the MSM mix as a nice rich base soil. I put seedlings in there, freshly rooting cuttings in there plain, and vegging plants and flowering plants get it, with like 1tbs dolomite lime per gallon of soil along with water and nutes every other feeding (or a half dose of each, every time). I didnt like using the dry ferts, you can try em out, but from my experience i like to mix up a batch of nutes to feed what i want when i want and most importantly when the plant needs it.

But to wrap it up, your plants are very overferted with nitrogen, the clawing and the lack of budgrowth after 30 days of flowering shows it. They will probably not recover from it, if it was me, i would cut em, and my losses and start over. Use it as a learning experience. Next time, use less ferts, or bubble them in teas and feed accordingly.

fox farm is great,..we use the happy frog with michorizae and humic acid, then add some guanos and bloodmeal, a little greensand and 20 percent perlite. soil is very fluffy and has great drainage.

Mysta, have you substituted any molasses into this mix ever? Im curious if its more effective than certain additives used in the mix>? Still have yet to purchase the supplies for this but the seeds are sitting in the fridge dry and chill.

Want the first grow to be without a hitch......need plenty more knowledge of the stages of this mix.

moonshine mix with a bird twist

moonshine mix with a bird twist

theres a new line of coco mix out there called "pure earth" by botanicare. it come ready to go and only needs ph 6.5 water and its available in 2 mixes, moisture and aeration. moisture needs to be watered once a day while aeration has more perlite and is set to be watered 4-6 times a day. a bag of aeration (1.5cu ft) mixed with FFOF (1.5 cu ft) should come out similar to the original moonshine mix. anyone else know about the coco mix im referring to?

i love this mix, but with my new run am curious about how i can go about reusing this mix after a run?

i would try to remove as much root material as possible, and most likely will sit the soil down for 60-90 days before i use it again. I would assume i will need to feed the plants, at which point i was thinkin either PBP or GH Floranova(not sure if its 100% org, but i love this junk), any input?
