Buyer Beware - Ebay Loupes

I bought a 30x - 21mm loupe off Ebay.

When I got it, I noticed that the fine print on the box says
30x (approx.)

That means NOT 30x.

Kinda embarassing

Might help to list the seller... as not ALL ebay sellers will rip off others like you experienced...

There are dozens of sellers with this loupe.
I found none use the word "approx" (I could be wrong...)

For $7, it felt too good to be true...but it was worth the risk
...just passing along my findings.

BTW, I did see a couple of diff style of 30x loupes in the $30 range... that's more like it...

yah I wouldnt doubt it. though for 7 dollars why complain? its not like you paid 20. well this reminds me its kinda like buying lumber. 2x4 4x4 ect. it really aint 2in by 4in if you measure it.

I got one that had the words aprox. and it seems to at least be very close to 30X. I think they all say that as it is hard to say 30x exactly, but it is very close - at least in my case.

As it's a piece of curved glass for such a low magnification and low price it's likely it's not 100% accurate when they say 30x. It's more likely that it's 30x + or - 10%. All digital thermometers/hygrometers normally have a +or- 2% error but you don't see that mentioned on ebay listings for them.

But at such low magnification surely it doesn't matter if it's exactly 30x or approx 30x does it?

What's the difference if it's 30x or 25x or 35x ? lol

Same shit......lol........

It's like with certain plant pots, the volumes listed are sometimes not accurate, only approximate.

thank you so very much. I was continplating buying one are not, and you just made my decision. Guess you get what you pay for. Ive seen others on there for much more, i wonder if there any better? Are you satisfied with it? I have the radio shack microscope and it works wonders....for now, ive only had it about a week. I havnt been able to use it without taking a small cutting however. I really would like a loupe for this reason. Again, thanks for the heads up.

Glad I could help you out.

I already have a 10X loupe, and the new one seems to be the same magnification. It's good for a 10x, but it sux for a 30x. lol

I don't like the microscope...too small of a field of vision...too shakey to use "in the field" ...

I like a loupe because I can scan the whole plant and get an idea of the AVG trichome condition

I've got my
eye
out for a good 30x loupe...
