Harvesting in sections

I've searched and can't find my answer. My goal is to start harvesting from top to bottom in time spaced sections giving lower budsites more time to mature before the final chop.

My question is how do I do this? should I cut the main stem? only cut the budsites/smaller branches and leave the main stalk? How much cutting is too much and can I kill the plant if I cut too much?

its called double cropping - depending on how big the plants are, just cut off the top foot then drop the light a foot.

Really not worth doing it more than 1 time - If you pruned right there shouldnt be much left after the first hack.

What I do is harvest in three or four sections. First I harvest all the top buds and trim and hang. Then the next day while the previous days buds are drying I trim the medium sized buds and hang to dry. Next day the smaller ones and then the second to last day the tiny 'pain in the ass' buds. Last day I remove all the remaining leaf and scragally buds and clean up the room.

Doing it this way allows the bigger buds to get a head start with drying. I find all the buds dry evenly and in the same time frame. Also you can give the smaller buds a few more days to mature this way. Another great thing is it splits up the harvest trimming into days, so the whole job doesn't seem like such a huge task.

This is what I do - I don't know if that is what you wanted to know but hope it helps, good luck!

this is what I was thinking, chop and let the lower half mature for another week under light.

this is also a great idea. it's my first harvast so i have yet to experiance the joy of trimming.

The lower section on a fair sized plant can easly go for an extra week.

I highly recommend a 48 hr dark period before each harvest too.

its a "joy" with good trimmers - treat yourself to Fiskars Mirco's..
