transplant?

when should i transplant from a dixie cup into a bigger container (in perlite so i cant pull it out like in soil ... they are 2 weeks into veg (about 3 nodes high an the size of the cup if looking down on them)

They are probably ready for a transplant. Normally, you would transplant right after the plant becomes root bound. If you do this correctly, after every transplant you should notice what seems to be above average growth for a few days.

What are you using as far as lighting?
CFL(Compact Fluorescent), MH(Metal Halide), HPS(High Pressure Sodium)?

How many watts?

How big is your grow area?

All of these factors will determine your final container size.

my final container size is a 2 gal hempy bucket ... i plan to go straight from the dixie cup to the hempy bucket ... i dont know that they are root bound i cant look to see the roots (not in soil in perlite) right now i am usuing 160watts of fluro tubes for 18 ak48's my flowering light will be 1 600watt hps hung vertically with the buckets around it in a circle (approx 4 to 5 ft across) ... again im not sure that they are root bound ... no wilting and they look healthy (except the nute burn i gave them before i knew any better) ... i want to wait anout week at least if not 2 weeks (i have read people let some go to 12" tall before transplanting ... mine are like 4" tall (tight node spacing by the way) anyway 12" or at least 10 would be great as i would waste as much light when i switch to the 2 gal hempy buckets (10-12" wide ... with a 3" wide plant seems liek a waste?

here is some pics

here is some pics

here is a pic from the top about 3-4 days ago (are a little bigger now)

and her is a pic from the side (is this tight node spacing?)

do you still think they are in need of a transplant now? or can i make it another week or 2?

yeah they are a little small ... i believe i stunted them with the nutes early on and some overwatering ... hope to iron out all the kinks before i end up killing them .. lol thanks for your help and advice!

No problem. If you don't already have drainage holes in the bottom of those cups, make some. Just poke some out with a screw driver. Are those rapidrooters or something of the like in a cup full of pearlite?

I HAVE THE DRAINAGE HOLES AS I BOTTOM FEED/WATER ... THE CUPS ARE DOWN IN A 2 GAL BUCKET AND I POUR THE WATER INTO THE BUCKET AND THE PERLITE WICKS IT UP ... THOSE ARE PEAT PELLET (JIFFY BRAND) MY FIRST TRY I WENT 0 FOR 10 (HASHBERRY) WITH ROCKWOOL ... I SAW THESE AT THE STORE AND BAUGHT THEM AND GERMED 19 OF 20 AK48'S ... AFTER THEY GERMED I DID SOME READING AND FOUND OUT MOST PEOPLE DONT LIKE THEM ... I THOUGHT IT WAS VERY EASY ... JUST FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONS ON THE PACKAGE ... AGAIN THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT ... OH YEAH I FOLIER FED (WELL JUST WATER ... TAP SAT OUT FOR 24HRS) YESTERDAY AND TODAY THE PLANTS LOOK LIKE THEY HAVE TAKEN OFF ... THEY SEEMED TO REALLY LIKE IT ... DO YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT FOLIER FEEDING/WATERING?

Foliar can never be bad for a young plant. If they like it, keep on doing it. There are a of people that don't even technically water for a couple weeks in the beginning-- they mist the plant and the top of soil, which kind of gets rid of that worry of over-watering.
