Well it is nearly upon us again, and I for one am looking forward to smoking up the streets of Nimbin. I stay away from Nimbin most of the year but in the first week of may it is our chance to get together and tell them what we really think about their fucked up laws and out of date unjustifiable views on prohibition........oh and to get royally smashed with like minded folk and have a jolly old time.

ahhhhhhhhh can't wait.

Heres an artical that sum's it up, it was in the Nimbin GoodTimes paper Feb 2008:

Meetings have started for the 2008 MardiGrass, Nimbin's anual weekend of cannabis law reform activities on the first weekend of may every year.
This year's MardiGrass will focus on three key issues related to the use of the cannabis plant - industrial hemp, medical cannabis use and social use. The industrial hemp focus will continue to lobby the NSW government who are decidedly backward with regard to supporting industrialisation of hemp. Unlike most states, in NSW the laws still include industrial hemp as a drug plant under the Drug Misuse and Trafficking Act 1986. MardiGrass will look at getting beyond the prohibition of of industrial hemp, including food products, across Australia so we begin to catch up on other countries who are fast developing large hemp industries for clothing, building, nutrition, fuel and paper. Despite the planetary environmental crisis, the great potential of industrial hemp is rarely considered in Australia for problem solving. The formation of an Australian Hemp Board has been proposed which will please many farmers across the nation.
A Feature at MardiGrass will be an industrial hemp marquee with demonstrations of hemp masonry construction, making hemp compound or Zelfo, hemp papermaking, displays of hemp clothing and information on hemp food products that have been available in Canada, the UK and the Scandanavian countries for well over ten years.
As always, the medicinal and social use of cannabis and the ludicrous mess prohibition has made will be a key area of lobbying. Special focus will be given to the controvercial random roadside drug testing now used in almost all States and Territories.
At MardiGrass this year in honour of Chicken George, the recently departed Plantem, there will be a new Hemp Olympix gold medal presented to the best all rounder, the Plantathlon award. Already on new Plantem has appeared with more expected, local's recognizing the honour of continuing the valuable role. Ray and Elizabeth from Happy High Herbs are sponsoring three major awards, ($2000, $1000, $500) for the best Rally Floats this year, which has already created planty of interest. Already we have been promised the Pope on a Rope smoking Dope with the Chaser Team as security! Floats cannot be motorised unless they are hempowered!

I'm hoping to get up there this year...It's a 1500km each way drive for me though
I was up there 3years ago for Mardigrass,did about 4 hours of volunteering for a free pass..."Volunteering" was mostly mostly smoking joints and talking shit with the locals Fkn awesome weekend all up
I might try not to eat so many pot chocolates this so I can make to the seed swap this year!!

Its 4 hours 20 minutes volunteering this year, I am just paying though coz I am an introvert and just like to wonder around and smoke weed all day. I went down to Nimbin the other day and bought a 50 and some chocolates to see what was around......gave the weed away to my bro coz it was so immature, but the chocolates were fuckin' wicked day enders. Dont know about the Doof yet but I am sure there will be one!

has anybody got an update on who may have won the cup at nimbin this year as there was heaps of pepole keen too enter the best home grown but i did not have the pleasure of attending the cup i was just wondering what strain/ or /cross won .........

Sure wish I could get there this year....was there for the 2000 festival, hitched a ride in in the Kombi Convoy, ate more Bliss Balls than I should have

A great day. I used to jump the XPT from Sydney up to Byron, stay for a week then head out to Nimbin for the festival.

Good times.

The place will be crawling with cops, and they WILL stop you on the way in and search you with sniffer dogs. Last few years they've pulled over like everyone.... stopping 20 cars at once, then going through them all.....


All that said and done, get rid of that skirt your wearing and fucken get up to Nimbin and smoke with us!!

Well I went there.

Maybe my last message scared a few off... but hey, last time i went there it was true. There was only a few police there this year, maybe 20 all up... and we didn't get stopped or searched, but we saw the convoy parked there ready with their saliva testing van...

I took a few pictures and i have the paper and stuff, i'll try and scan it for you all.

I missed out on the parade at the end and the big protest (and thewhole fucken reason I went, but hey) and I also missed Daddy Cool


But I met up with quite a few grinders from my hometown, and saw Ed Rosenthal bombin around Nimbin..... didn't get to hear him talk, but i saw the beast....

Theres many, many roads into Nimbin, if you buy a Roadmap, and make sure you bypass Lismore, and you'll be fine.


I saw a guy with an "Oz stoners.com" shirt he'd made himself....

And some grinder swindeld me out of $10 for some "Indica girls" crossed with sweet tooth. The seeds are all different sizes and some were cracked and half formed.

If you're going to sell something, make sure its good. I'll be there next year and I remember a face.

Anyway, I'll give them ago..... I've never had sweet tooth, we'll see what its like.

Camped with bil and a guy with an "Oz stoners.com" shirt he'd made himself lol
..and half a dozen other Ozstoners.

It was my first time back in 10 yrs and despite the heavy pig presence, I had a ball.

Listening to Rosenthal, Wodak and Baulderstone speak was great, but smoking more strains than I can remember and meeting some cool stoners was the real highlight.

Hope we see more of you there next year

I sent some samples of my Celtic Stone f3 & my Sensi Skunk#1 with a good m8 from ozstoners....apparently, a couple of others bought some Skunk#1 that they thought was good stuff....until they smoked mine & it knocked them on their asses....muahahahaaha....I'll be there for sure next year guys.

Well next year I'm making my own shirts too. And some form of ICMAG apparell.

And some of my own dope. I was reading in the paper I brought back about the cup being put back to june/july so grinders could get their dope ready, and something about a 10gram minimum and no maximum! And all unused bud to be returned to the grower(s) and all donations greatly appreciated.

Also the ACTUAL time and place they said was "a bit vague" for security reasons, and they said to keep an ear to the ground at mardigrass.... but my ears were stoned and ringing with tinitus....


I'd also like to play some music there.... the music these days is getting poxier and poxier...... I can play guitar and keyboards and sing..... if theres any other guitarists, keyboardists/organists, bass players and drummers out there, hit me up, and we'll make some marijuana music for the grinders!! In particular, a one Dr Paranoid, if he's still grinding about, he played mad drums, and bombed around Overgrow.... Hit us up, you mad bastard!


The vibe was full confused and alienated as usual..... or maybe thats just me..... but still, all these young fuckwits comming just for the rave, sitting around drinking and whinging about the lack of chemicals and what not.... They just sit around and put shit on all the real grinders doin their bit..... What happened to the times you could rockup to any campsite and demand they smoke some of your dope and enjoy it? We used to harrass many ****s and they'd mind not.


Anyhow, If i can find a camera, i'll take you all some pics of my nimbin items and some Australian Organic Bush Dope.
