What's new

I recently inherited a lot of great equipment and am wondering best course of action.

Hi, i recently just got put in a great situation, my friend unable to grow anymore bestowed upon me a 1000w hps light w/hood and heat shield, as well as a big 6" vortex inline fan and a couple of smaller squirrel cage fans. He normally used a 4x8x8 hydrohut for flowering and a 4x4x8 for vegging but as my space is limited i can only fit the 4x4x8 in my room. I have enough room in my closet to make a small vegging area but my question is will i have heating problems cramming a 1000w hps light into a 4x4x8 tent even though i have a great inline fan working on it? My plan was to use a dwc scrog for flowering but im worried about my plants frying under the light in such a small space.

if you want to solve heat issues you can build a cool tube to vent out the grow room. Pulling all the hot air strait out of the grow tent.

1kw is perfect for a 4x4 tent, and just use a CoolTube as suggested ^^^ (unless your hood is already air-coolable)

Welcome to the world of growing, it sounds like you have a nice set to get started with :D

WITH A 6" YOU SHOULD BE GOLDIN........

i do 2k in a 6 x 6 x 6.............. cooltubes work :) i use a 8" duct to 6"

Cool thanks everyone for their input, im hoping to alternate 1 or 2 plant dwc scrogs to try to maximize my space especially with such a powerful light with any luck ill start up a diary before the end of the month.

just make sure there is proper ventilation, that 6" vrtex is plaenty for ehauhst, just make sure it is venting somwhere & not just back into the room which the tent is in, creating a big "ventilation circle"(very bad).

i would opt for a SOG. you should be able to fir 60 plants in a 4x4 EASY. short veg = quicker harvest. scrog = wasted time/energy with less yields than a properly set up sea of green.

Im unfamiliar with the mechanics of a SOG, someone else suggested that to me as well....is it possible to have a perpetual harvest with a SOG? Also, i have all the equipment already for a DWC system, can you SOG with that? Or is it soil only.

you can SOG with a DWC, but most people don't, from what i've seen.

personally, scrog works for me, but i generally do no more than 2 plants in a cabinet, less than 6 sq ft of floorspace.

what sort of DWC are you talking, recirc buckets or what

DWC bubblers similar to Pipedream's setup, basically just rubbermaid tubs with airstones, i liked that setup the best because there is zero chance of flooding and its easy to maintain.

that's what i do actually, i just run one big tubbler.

with sog, you have to remember you'll need area to do some moms, and propagate tons of cuttings, in order to keep up with the high clone demand..

with scrog, you have far lower plant #'s and could really get by with rooting clones taken during veg and not even having a mom, though personally i would rather have one.

also bear in mind as others have said a good scrog is pretty time consuming in terms of training, and you'll need to have fairly easy access to all areas of the canopy.
