LA Medical-Pot Figure Larry Kristich Pleads Guilty
by Staff

The former owner of a chain of medical-marijuana shops in California has pleaded guilty to drug-trafficking and money-laundering charges.

Federal organized-crime prosecutors arrested Larry Kristich, 65, last summer in connection with the distribution of more than 15,000 pounds of marijuana through seven outlets in the San Diego, Los Angeles and San Francisco Bay areas from 2002 through 2005.

Kristich pleaded guilty late Thursday in a Los Angeles courtroom to one count each of promotional money laundering and maintaining a drug-involved premises. He is to be sentenced April 21.

The U.S. attorney's office said in a statement that Kristich's Compassionate Caregivers operation at one time employed some 200 people and grossed $95 million over the years.

Kristich's operation was nothing more than a lucrative drug-trafficking operation, said Tom O'Brien, the U.S. attorney for the Los Angeles area.

Two co-defendants in the case are to go on trial next week. It wasn't known if Kristich would testify against them. (c) UPI

And kristich obviously agreed with this otherwise he would have not plead guilty, correct?

I mean, why plead guilty to something you are innocent of?

When I was involved with a co-op, we had these students in the midwest come out to talk with us & do interviews. They spent all day with us during a big trim session, sitting there with all these ill folks. One of the last questions they asked was "what's the difference between you & a criminal organization" & they were lucky to not get knocked with someone's cane for that one. The reply: we're legal, atleast in this state.
Here we are again folks.

Hes 65? Hes facing spending the rest of his life in prison or a reduced sentence by pleading guilty.. he made 95m. he wont be spending much time anywhere.

I mean, why post the comments you do on a pro med-mj site when your against the current policies? Wouldn't your time be better spent out trying to change those policies rather than posing as a keyboard warrior on a stoner forum? ignorance is bliss.

These terms like "organized crimes", "drug cartels" etc. lead us away from the truth of the matter. You could call 4 old women playing bridge for nickels a "gambling consortium" if it was in somebody's interest. Somebody in my county was charged with a felony for using the phone to call a friend to help with trimming. He's also being charged with conspiracy, that's 20 yrs. right there. Obviously this guy pissed somebody off. Conspiracy to commit a crime is often worse than the crime itself. It's the ace in the hole.
I bring you a joint....drug trafficking. He buys groceries with money he made from a club...money laundering.

News reports said he is looking at 40 years and a $95 million fine.
At age 64, one wonders why he copped a plea... basically looking at life.

What is the truth of this matter?
This guy made 95 mil off the sick and the dying.
Thought he ran off to the bahamas anyway. 95 mil and it still wasn't enough to keep him hidden. He coulda built some kinda james bond fortress at the bottom of the ocean for that matter.

^^^ to the point of Ks workers cutting a deal...

Afriend of mines boyfriend worked for K @ CCG SD. He was detained PERMANENTLY in a federal penitentary and was not allowed to speak to a lawyer or make any calls. They were basically treated like terrorists for not giving up the name and information of K.

But im sure none of that will ever make the news...

Damn! It seemed like he was so popular with the feds. At his age he is looking at life. Amazing how this harmless herb is so villified that touching it sends you to hell in their book.

The news article says the Compassionate Caregivers organization had gross revenues of $95million over many years. How you guys figure he pocketed $95m over the years or $2.5m each month is beyond me. As to poster questioning why someone would plead guilty to something they didn't do, lol I thought you had to be at least 13 or something to participate this forum.

Yea, Larry was a pauper. He barely broke even.

Anyone who tries to dimish the amount of money he made shows which side of the fence they stand on when it's patients vs profiteers.

Fine, Larry only cleared 45 million. How on f*ckin earth does that make what he did any more in line with prop 215 then 95 million. Exactly, it doesn't.

He plead guilty because he was quilty. ACCEPT it and move on.
Do you people also stick up for Roger Clemens?

Funny how you always edit everything you write.

Larry helped a lot of sick people while smaller clubs bought wet weed and sold shit. I worked at CARE and they were a joke. There's nothing wrong with a good business sense, this is America.

Funny how I edit things I post? WTF? LOL
This thing doesn't have a spell checker and I like to edit spelling mistakes.
Funny thing is, as you and everyone knows by now I always stand behind what i say and i ALWAYS say it with the same screen name over the years which is more than I can say for 90% of the folks posting in this thread.
I mean I know who you (they) are cause your writing style gives it away but it would be nice for the noobs to be able to follow along.
