2 gallon 12 pot ebb and gro systems?

Are the 2 gallon pots going to be to small? the grower is switching from dirt using 2 gallon pots. uses a 1000hps. uses a sog setup now. so what size plant can the 2 gallons support? not looking for trees here, just 2 oz per pot would be ideal....thanks guys.....

Hydroponic roots are generally smaller since they don't have to search for nutes. 2 gallon pots will be fine, just keep your water aerated.

I'm currently using 10litre (2 gallon) buckets in my setup, fairly close together, and they produce over 6oz every time. If I'm not careful the plant will happily run away to 6ft tall and the root mass is humungus every time.

I've often wondered what results I'd get if I used 4 or 5 gallon buckets, but I couldn't face the thought of washing literally a ton of pebbles after every grow, plus I'd need a 1000litre rez!

These sized buckets work, I assure you.

how does it get air to the roots? is there a air head in the controller pot or is the movement of the water creating enough air in the water? thanks for all the info.....

I HAD ONE MORE QUESTION? ABOUT HOW MANY TIMES SHOULD YOU FLOOD FOR IN A DAY AND HOW LONG?

THANKS BRO!

ya so your talkingabout a multiflow unit, i have seen 8 oz monsters grown in those systems. 2 gallons of hydroton is pretty heavy & can support a medium-large plant easily. i wouldn't go over 3 foot plant though.

actually i think the multiflow is 2.5 gallon, so a 2 gallon might not hold as big of a plant but its still a nice size pot for hydro.

i thought the exact opposite. They have explosive root growth Check out some dwc grows and tell me that hydroponic roots are smaller then roots in some dirt.

The beauty of these systems is in how much aeration is provided to the roots.

As the water level rises in the buckets it expels the stale air from the medium. When the water level drops again it pulls in fresh new air. With this happening 4-6 times a day it causes explosive root growth.

I grow in clay pebbles, and when I empty the buckets after harvest I pull out a solid bucket-shaped mass of roots and pebbles. Changing to this system was the best move I ever made!

BTW, I still use an airstone in the rez but it's really only for stirring the nutes and preventing the growth of anything bad.

I have a 12pc 2.5 gal set up Ebb and grow..hydroton,has anyoneone treid to put 6 or more plants (clones)in one bucket?? i was going try to plant 6 straight single cola plants per bucket like a sog...short veg period..shorter flowering strain.is this possible to do????..can you grow with no medium (hyroton etc,) at all?????. maybe get some lids for the buckets, drill holes in lids and then make some neopreune collars for the plants.would this give you more plants and more root space????.. maybe suport the plants by grow sticks anchored to the bottom of the top bucket.. ..i like my system, though it would be nice bypassing the hydroton,,do you guys wash hydroton before and after each use?? great Thread..thanks Jimi

u can get 64 oz or more off this stype of system with 2k when its completley dialed in & u know what you are doing....48 oz should be easy to accomplish within 2-3 harvests... i would add a few buckets tho mabey 18 total.
