how do you know if you have hermies?

I know how hermies are caused, light leaks, stress, etc. But how do you know if your plants went hermie? Will they show balls just like a male or will the little sacks just have seeds in them?

I really shouldnt have any stress or light leaks. I have been in the room at lights out and you cant see your hand in front of your face. There was a small glow from an unused ventilation duct but that has been covered. even with that you still couldnt see anything in the room.

Probably sounds like a stupid question but I am being really anal about my last and next batch. I just cant afford for any more seeds.

I just had 13 of my 25 go hermie. I do not think any of them opened up but around the 4th week of flowering check your plants for a pod at the node. It may not be the first day but the lil phuks will poke out during the next few days. I'm stressed out and heart broken by losing so many. I think mine were from light leak because I had to enter my room once during the dark stages. I've been consistent with temps of water and room and ppm's. I was told if my table was crowded and if I was running more than one strain in ebb and flow I might induce hermies. The strain which survived was OG. My bannana and bagseed grows grew balls.

Banana's. They look like tiny banana's popping out of your buds. Colloquially referred to as "nanners". Some will full on have full male flowers, but I've never seen it irl. All the hermis I ever had were nanners.

Yeah you'll see little green miniature bananas. You'll know, they stand out from the calyxes and hairs for sure.

Mr.C hit the nail on the head and ive had full on female flower 1st then male balls i'm currently on a nanner watch with 2 OG kush crosses cut few of them suckers 3 nights ago. from what ive read and have been told some times a strain may throw a nanner or 2 either early or late in flower. and others are just out right unstable and hermi full on nanners or balls. oh yea lol i'm 21 days flower on this run and 3wks is when i allways find the nanners. only reason why i havent culled the 2 plants on watch is because of the cross they are Abussive OG fm x WhiteMustang m but if they continue throwen nanners they get the AXE out they go. all the strains i currently have are quite stable ive stressed the dog chit outta them and they stay the course.

Somehow a speck of pollen landed on that pistil... how, I haven't the slightest clue.

They Can be pretty small and easily missed if you have a fast growing plant. I have a theory on one possible cause of nanners. If you have a room full of horny females and no males. Maybe the plants release a "Pheromone" if you will telling them to make nanners for the good of the species.

Could agressive nute ppm's cause herms or is it more temps of the room and water ? Did I possibly damage my ladies in veg? I am just raising that question because I have 7 OGer's that are frostin and healthy yet my others (bagseed and clinic clones) got stressed in the same conditions in my ebb n flow producin ballz.

Well if it was only a stress problem from opening the door for one night. Why dont you try plucking as many of the nanners off as you can. In my experience if the hermies are formed because of a light leak you can pluck them off. The plant most of the time wont produce anymore until the end of flowering. This of course can all go tits up in the genetics are prone to hermie and the plant only needed a way to get started.

I have personally never heard of hermies from over crowding. Not saying it cant happen. These plants can be very fickle about light. I had plants throwing nanners because of the little red light on my fan controller. What a pain in the ass. Took a long as time to realizse that little light was screwing up my world.

what about plants that get pollinated? Lets say I have some plants flowering that should be female. How do I tell if they pollinated? Will they show balls at all or will they skip the balls and show male flowers?
