Possible Community Project

How about creating a shared design for a self built grow unit for medical patients producing as close as possible of 5 grams per day.

Focus would be on building it almost exclusively from everyday household items so the cost is as close to nothing as possible.

And then just because we can, we shoehorn the whole thing into an old refrigerator or other household appliance carcass. Perhaps a top and bottom fridge/freezer with a separate veg/clone/mother room and flower room.

any takers?

I am all for volunteering this information, and as I see it... every old man or woman I help across the road/ or pick up something will eventually will come back around to me by helping this old man walk across the street or pick up something...
I had a similar idea for the man with nearly no money known as the Shoebox Ganja Grow. It facilitates the idea of "I have about $10 and I want to grow some plants." IDK if we will need to accommodate anything extra, as the whole projects was for "aged" MJ users. I was thinking that maybe incorporating sliding bottoms for easy plant access,
When coming up with original ideas for my box some years ago, the thought of a stand-up refrigerator sounded perfect... Fairly good insulation to keep the noise down. Dual chambers for veg/flower at a near perfect ration. Fridges naturally hum so there is no raised suspicion. Older style fridges have locks that are seen and ignored without question.
Here is math babble: Even if the cab was 2x2, a SOG at 4 plants per sq. ft equals out to 2 plants per week in 6inch square pots. At this square footage, 2 150 HPS bulbs would fit the bill perfectly at 75W/Sq.F. With a 3x3 footprint you need 3 150w bulbs, giving 50w/Sq.F. Now I use 150w bulbs as a base point, but @

they are just $20 US +shipping.
I think Jumbo put this in the wrong forum, but wherever it goes, I'll be here;)

How's this?

How's this?

I think the way to go would be two small chambers, I for a scrogged mother with lots of little clone sites. And another chamber to flower clones as soon as rooted with no veg time. If you flowered them in deep, narrow containers, and put one into flower every day, by the time they were done, you would have 1 little cola every day. With the right nutes regimen, and cfl's for the light, I think you could get 3-5 grams dried off of each cola. Even if you only got 2-3 grams per, that would be a big help to a patient with little or no income.

With a steady enough supply of seeds, you could even do the 12/12 from seed technique. It would take careful care with the growing and attention to detail, but what worthy endeavor doesn't.

I really am intrigued by this. I'd really like to build one and try it out. I think you might still need to clone outside of the main box, though. If you kept on of those 72 clone trays with a tall dome on it in a separate closet or something, then this really might be doable...

Awesome thread!

one more thing...

one more thing...

I was also thinking, Ir the refrigerator is not a requisite, then you could really pull this off if you built like a 3x3x8 box. Wouldn't be as incog, but it would fit in the corner of the garage, and you could dress up the interior if you need to..

I've seen refridgerator grows that are outstanding. Get the fridge that has the freezer up top use that for seeds or clones and will you know what the rest is for. These can be found at junk place for around $25 bucks and are easy to gut and convert.

Exactly Zoo, that is why I suggested them... readily available, very cheap and they just damned well fit the bill... It's 4:20!!!! Take a hit from the bong.

htis is kinda off topic but I went to this one dudes house this one time with my friend and he made a bong out of his fridge. the bowl was on the outside of the freezer and a tube ran from the bowl, across the freezer which the pipe was covered by backs of ice...and then down through the fridge through two bottles of water then out the fridge.

best hits I ever took honestly...I liked it better than vapin

That was very off topic Token, but none the less, interesting and creative to say the least.
Any new additions to the community project or is everybody just onto other things right now?

gonna go pick up an old fridge tomorrow and give it a go. Shame the couldn't be a 'not for profit' source of cheap lights and gear for registered patients.
