this may be a little obscure, but "Zardoz" (with Sean Connery and the director of Deliverance) is probably my favorite stoner movie. including the Connery line, intoned dramatically from a futuristic hovering stone statue: "The penis is evil"

How about a great movie to watch stoned,

"A Boy and His Dog" an early Don Johnson effort from
'75. He and his dog communicate telepathically in a
post apocalyptic world, the dogs acute senses give
them an advantage in survival. One of the greatest
'B' movies of all time....... :lurk:

I cant believe nobody has mentioned 'The Money Tree'.......Early 90's I think, definately one of the best weed related movies EVER!

'The In-Laws'

'The In-Laws'

'The In-Laws' 1979 (the original)
Peter Falk
Alan Arkin

See it stoned or straight, it is world class funny, a true comedy. Not a single swear word in it but so well written it doesn't need the shock value of cheap tricks to elicit huge laughs.

Nothing to do with weed but you won't care. Rent, buy, or see it on HBO.

Decent synopsis of Fritz the Cat
Fritz the Cat is a famous movie for a number of reasons, most stemming from it being the first feature-length adult cartoon and having an "X" rating. There were controversies surrounding its creation with director Ralph Bakshi and character creator Robert Crumb. The film is like nothing I have ever seen before. It has a unique animation process that makes everything reek seediness, despair, and cry for social change. Bakshi wrote the script which really is nothing more than the knife that cuts through all the 60's BS - from existentialism to the drug culture to the love generation to African-American perspectives to militancy. Nothing is spared as the counterculture is laid bared and examined through the eyes, ears, fears, and desires of Fritz the Cat. Along the way, Fritz experiments with just about anything - including lots of sex, drugs, and sex. While the film definitely is quite vulgar in many ways with some of the most odious characterizations of otherwise cute and cuddly animals and depicting lots of strong sexual situations(though in no way deserving the "X" by today's standards), Fritz the Cat is also an intelligent look at one character's drive to find himself and meaning in his life - perhaps a symbol for the whole decade the film is examining.

Heavy Traffic<-------One recent viewers opinion
I just finished watching this film, and I couldn't be more in awe. It's definitely one of the most bizarre pieces of true Art that I have seen in recent years, and yet the naked honesty is instantly resonant on a very deep level. This a a very dark look at one short period in a young artist's life in what seems to be New York. Ralph is not afraid to show the extreme in the ordinary, the sublime in the tragic, the sparkling filth that charges the air with horror and magic. This is our world, and his, with all the petty bitterness and hope that goes with it. I am saddened by those who say this film is garbage; I was at times horrified, laughing, moved, angered, and yet I emerged from the experience hopeful. I have rarely ever seen such a pure and rich depth of feeling as with this film. Ralph Bakshi is indeed a Master of our time, and the fact that he is still fairly obscure is a terrible waste. See this film, but keep the kids far away, it's rated R for a reason.
