anybody able to recommend a place where a 250 ballast can be found for relatively cheap?
cant even find a decent security light to rig up....

If your comfortable with wiring up your own ballast (which was easier than I originally thought) then you can try either of these sites.

businesslights.com

plantlightinghydroponics.com

I got my 250w for $80-$90, save yourself some space and avoid the quad tap ballast.

a 2500 watt bulb?? Not sure bout that one...

I see lots of people out there with their 400's and 1000's and they keep telling me I'm not gonna get some big donkey dick sized buds outta a 250. I'm out here to prove them wrong.

Keep growing with those 250's :joint:

For pics of my ladies gotta check my gallery. ICMAG won't let me upload URL's. Damn post count...

Just a word of warning to my fellow Canadians, the two sites I mentioned(they are actually under the same umbrella company called Alladin lights) ships via UPS and they are notorious for outrageous brokerage fees.

They wanted to charge me $30 for paying $7 of taxes at the border. So in total they wanted $37 in brokerage fees. Long story short I stood my ground and requested a waybill from them and said I would pay the taxes myself. They caved and made a "one time exception" and waved my brokerage fees.

Finally picked up my new cab, barely squeezed it into my closet :muahaha: Sorry for the cruddy pic.

This thing is way beefier than a Mills Pride cab. 23W 18D 56" Tall.

What do you guys suggest i make a door out of? I was thinking taking the shelves and gluing them together and making a door out of that. I couldn't stand to have ugly plywood covering up this beautiful cab.

Your area seems tight so I would suggest something for that situation. Get a sheet of black/white poly and make a roll up velcro door.

Well I want this cabinet to be pretty stealth when its done, so I'm probiably going to end up using the shelves, gorilla glue is so handy :rasta:

I dont want to paint this wood either, so I'm thinking of Panda sheet or something similar. Maybe just cut wall sized squares of poly and put velcro on each corner, sounds good to me, you? Open to suggestions.

i was gonna go w/ 150W HPS and CFL for my first grow....12 cubic ft scrog in box w/ 4 plants, BUT now after seeing the buds u guys are getting w/ 250's, i am thinking about using a 250 instead of a 150...

yes go 250 :joint: they put out nearly twice the lumens of a 150w hps without putting off much more heat. 250's are great for scrog or sog because you can keep it 6'' from flowering tops without burning with proper ventilation. With a 250 its possible to yield 6-10oz with a high yielding strain and a dialed in grow.

Hey fellow 250 watters! well I am not exactly 250w, I have a 250w hps with 2 42w cfls for bottom lights. I am in a 2ftw x 2ftd cab.

To get the most out of my cab space I have been growing in beer cups with coco. I like to have variety so I grow in small pots. So far, I am having pretty good luck, but I am still getting the kinks out though (need to flush more). Basically, I flower small clones and encourage stretch to end up with 2-2.5' sticks by bottom feeding more water than the cups hold. I get bud top to bottom on some strains, something I did not get with my runs with plants vegged for 30+ days. In a cab I cannot have any wasted space, this includes what is on the plant. I am planning to supercrop/lst in my next grow with larger pots to try to increase the yield, but growing in cups is a great way to find a keeper in a small space. How else can you grow out a pack?

strawberryd @ 47 days + cab door open

my first test with coco in a cup. I got 10.6 grams of pure (no stems) bud off her.

That hashberry looks very nice at 4 weeks :rasta: I have some mandala hashberry seeds for my next 250w grow... how long was the veg time on that?

That coco beer cup idea seems like it would be perfect for sog because you can probably fit 4-6 per square foot. I might be trying something like that for my next 250w run with hashberry :rasta: If you want to veg longer with fewer plants and still get even light penetration with smaller lights, lst/scrog does the trick because it keeps all the bud sites around the same height.

Poker_Toker: Thanks for the nice words. I did not veg them at all. I took a 4-6" rooted clone straight into flower. The pic is below. I use smartvalves that flood the 4 trays at the bottom with 4 cups per tray.

250wscrogger: a scrog with cups would be bad if you water the way I water. I actually think the plants are so big because of the amount of water they get. Bottom feeding requires lots of flushing. I think it would be hard to flush a scrogged plant. Also, I grow in cups to control the verticle and horizontal space. I want variety over quantity. My goal is 6-8 nice strains in my 'lil cab. I do have a small veg/mom cab. I would love to see you give it a try, I am enjoying not training, cutting, and strapping down my girls in a small space.

jersey: it really isn't that hard. I just flood the trays when they are dry and flush every 2 weeks. I have a few posts about it I will dig them up.

Just for you poker... popcorn country! Well 9 of these are strawberry diesels that I am looking for a keeper mom. I like the second one over on the left front. She's got bud up and down.

I wasnt talking about scrogging with the beercups :muahaha: I use a 2 plant dwc system with a 22gal res for scrog. I'm thinking about doing a sog with the cups for my next grow because I can fit 50 of them in my cab and put 5 rooted clones in and harvest 5 every week with a 10 week strain, kinda like dr bud greengenes perpetual status except under a 250w hps in 4sqft. Even If I get 7g per plant its fine because I'll harvest weekly.
