Ok, plants are all normal mj (no "feminized" or autoflowering). They have been on 24/0 in soil under mixed spectrum. Ages range from 7 to 4 weeks. The pics are processing. I'lll try to get all 10 up tonight. Flip begins tomorrow.

tell gratefull to go fuck him self man the only thing is see is 1 fem and some undecided...

i ll give you an advise or 2 though
(for me they look really undeveloped for 1 month veg)
but i dont know what light u use, im talking with a hid in mind.

for me you need at least 1 600 for all of these and BIIIIIIIIGGGER pots
seriously i think ur pots are way to small.

if money is a an issue get a smaller hid -and go fot the hps -dual spec i think the perfect bulb not for mh(my opinion- the mh make my plants stretchy with biiig leaves and bigger stalks- less iternodes- less budding sites)

select spectrum lighting

Problem #1 is that I am limited in space with a small grow box. I still need somewhere to hang my cloths...lol. As for lights: Well, I had a big T8 lamp thingy - 31watt x4 bulb 1.5 inch U tube lamp, but I had to take that one out of the box and use it as my alarm clock (can't beat it; I don't sleep late any more). It produced nice, slow, compact growth, but was 5000K "stark white" aka massive green and yellow spikes in the middle of the human spectrum. I've been using 1 42 watt CFL @2700 K; 2 23 wattCFL @5800 K and a 50 watt HPS.

I plan on adding 2 24watt T5 tubes: one a regular actinic @460nm and the other a "ture actinic" @420nm. That will be in conjunction with a 3 x 50 watt HPS cool tube system. Later in flowering, once trichrome are starting do develop, I will take out one of the actinics and add the "pink bulb" aka the "purple bulb". This thing has a huge hump in the violet/UVA or 410nm to 300nm and another peak in the middle red at about 640nm. The "pink bulb" doesn't put out much else.

I'm kinda on a fixed income so I can't do it all at once. I need a sheet of reflector material for the 3 x 50 HPS. I'm planning on getting a dual actinic system with reflectors. It is on sale and may sell out. I already ordered the pink bulb and the 420nm, and I'm just waiting to get them. I just found a place that sells awesome reflector material by the sheet. (www.anomet.com) I can see myself lining my grow box with this stuff after I make a bunch of tiny custom reflectors for the HPS system. I may just get a bare ballast for the T5s, some wired and waterproof end plugs, and hang them in the understory of the garden.

Yeah, the Satoris did spend 2 weeks of their 4 week lives -veggin under an HPS with little flouro for help. They are also know for "big fan leaves". I took the pics just 3 days after cutting a bunch of the fan leaves. I do this to encourage the side shoots. Pot size as big as it can get :( I'm looking into doing a shallow water culture and a bunch of net pots in the floor of my box. I'll get a 10 gallon reservoir and do a bubble system. This will almost double the volume devoted to foliage/flowers as the hydro system with the roots will all be down below the grow cab. No more valuable real estate being taken up by dirt :)

and for the deep red...

and for the deep red...

I plan to put some 24" deep red neon lights in there at some point. I figure they peak right below 650nm. HPS puts out almost nothing in this deep red and the Pink Bulb peaks a little bit above this at like 640nm. Anyway, They are pretty cheap as "car ground effects" lighting (eaby). Their transformers use 12V, but thats OK 'cause I have a 100 watt 12V power supply. My limiting factor is grow area volume. I know all about high-output LEDs and how to wire them up (bike lights). I couldn't be ars'd with the tiny ones. The problem is that all the R&D is going into the white ones. You can get a 1500mA white LED, but a red one that takes a mear 350 mA. (Luxeon stars which take a 3.6V drop) I plan to bombard my plants with as much usefull light as they can take. Power is not a factor. I have a Vent Axia 180cfm and a Can filter and I have to dial the thing back to about half flow. A huge MH or CMH or HPS would just cook my plants even if it was in a cool tube.

As for gender: I say that, at worst, I have 1 female bagseed and 1 female Satori. I suspect that I have 2 female Satori, but, being the pesimist that I am, I will be happy if I get more than 1 fem from the 6 Satori.

As for space: if I end up with only 2 or 3 fems, then I can put them in huge pots and LST the shit out of them while they flower for 2 months.

details...LEDs

details...LEDs

All the Luxeon Star IIIs use a voltage drop of 3.6 volts. The red ones peak at about 620nm which is moar orange than the Pink bulb, so don't bother. Luxeon Star 5s use like 5 or 6 volts, but the life is only 1/10 that of the Luxeion Star 3s. You need to use computer heat sink compound and screws to attach these things to a CPU heat sink. They are serious business. Some put out as much as 140 lumen. Yes, that is a little LED on a little hex not 1 inch wide. Get the "side emitting" type or use a wide angle lens with the "lambersion" type. If your LEDs don't need a massive heat sink then you are just getting the tiny, crappy, low-output ones they had 5 years ago.

I won't bother with LEDs unless I'm building a nano-grow so small that it won't take a 10" neon red, a 35watt HPS, or 9 watt power-compact actinics.

My bet is 3 fems and 7 males. I took those pics (and some close ups which don't help much) only 12 hours before lights out. It has been about 12 hours light and 26 hours of darkness and I haven't taken another peak at them. The get a 36 hr night to "reset their bio clock" as per directions for Mandala's Satori which I read somewhere. Flowering 12/12 begins 9 hours from now. I don't plan to cull until I see dingleberrys. That might only take one week. I am new to this. My only other full grow was Lowryder#2. (fuck you autoflower...instant gratification in exchange for miniscule yields)

man they only thing i can say is keep aaaaall ur money and get a magnetic ballast(the simplest -cheapest one) and a philips son agro bulb, u ll never go back

if u want ur own good, trust me, start saving
u ll thank me afterwards

Well, perhaps if I had a bigger box. I'm stuck with 50 watt HPS lights due to the low height of my grow box. I get discounted security lights for $23.58 and that includes electronic ballast and bulb. What it doesn't include is reflectors, cool tube, and junction box for the ballast,. I'll have my 3 x 50 HPS up and running in a week or two.
Now if I could get special grow bulbs in 50 watt size :bashhead:

what a bout a vertical grow?

u have widnt and legth limitations to?

The box has 18" of vertical grow space. 6" of that is the dirt. I can see myself building a "stand" for the box. The trunk of each plant will come up through a hole cut into the bottom of the grow box. The bottom of box is lined with aluminum tape right now, but I plan on getting 98% reflective aluminum reflector material to line the entire interior. Prolly the grainulated finish stuff. Think fish tank stand. I could put two 5 gallon buckets in there drill holes in the bottom, use plastic "change ur own oil" pans as drain/dish thingies. That would give me 10 gallons of dirt space for 2 monster bushes. Imagine the lower 6 inches full of stem and green fan leaves with a few blue actinics hanging in there and a 18 x 26 inch SCROG with 6 inches of solid bud reaching for those 3 little suns and pilling on the resin to keep from getting sunburned by all the UV coming from the purple bulb. Or heck, I could just get a 270 nm UV sterilizer bulb put that in there for the last 2 weeks; wire it up to a refrigerator light switch so I don't burn my retinas when I check on things...

The results are in.

The results are in.

Bag 1 = herm
Bag 2 = F
Bag 3 = F
Bag 4 = M
Satori 1 = F
Satori 2 = M
Satori 3 = M
Satori 4 = M
Satori 5 = F
Satori 6 = M

Not a single dingle ball was allowed to mature. All males and herms were culled and sex organs were incinerated. :rasta:

I am super interested in different light spectrums, I like teh different color bulbs you are using

I will be back to check out your progress, for the lights, and the Mandala genetics.

Congrats on the females, lets see what you can do with them
