Yeah it goes in live. The pet store used to tell us to smack the thing on a wall to knock it out, which I didn't like. Suffocation I don't like either, it's just as much suffering I think. I just put em in live and do it naturally. If the rat starts trying to bite i put something next to its mouth so it can chomp on it. Once I didn't pay attention and one bit the snake, then they can try to scratch with their feet but the feet don't do too much.I just make sure the snake doesn't get hurt til it's deadHarry Gypsna said:

I'm sayin usually, the snake doesn't coil around the rat in such a way that I can see such an intense facial expression. Usually it's buried in the middle and I can't really even see it
i remember i used to think big oythons and such were pretty harmless... my logic was something that big must be slow and id rather have something big slow and not poisonous than somehting small lightning fast and deadly poisonous.... then a saw a doc that shown how fast pythons actually strike at and my mind was changed pretty rapid...
The was an episode of a life of grime and a woman had a pytjon, it had escaped, was highly aggressive and they ababndoned the flat lol...the ppl they got come get it, when they went in the house was trashed, the taps in the kitche sink were running and water everywhere and the snake was coiled around both taps hissing a striking at the dude....
Another guy i know had a whole bedroom for his boa, took the door off and put a polycarbonate sreen in and a entry hatch and feeding hatch like a police cell lol...he used to drop rabbitts live in through the hatch..... Mind you he also had monitor that died and he threw it in the bin-rogor mortis had the thing rigid sticking up outta the bin lol

A friend of mine used to have an 8ft golden burmese python, I am terrified of snakes, serious phobia. He had me look after this damn python for 6 weeks once. One day I went to the pet shop to buy 4 frozen baby rats (it ate 4 in one sitting, big snake, small rats) and they were out so I went to see a friend who gave me a rabbit he had shot. Too kthe rabbit home and when I too kthe damn thing out of the bag a tiny lil bit of blood got on my hand, just a spot and I didn;t notice it. So there I am, waving this dead rabbit by the back legs in front of this python and the damn thing is sniffing with it;s tongue, taking an interest, coils ready to strike and I expect it to seize the rabbit and eat it as it did with rats. Damn thing sensed the blood on my hand and struck for my hand, the bloos was on the fleshy bit between thumb and forfinger and this bloody python struck my hand and sunk it's teeth in, before I had realised, I'd dropepd the rabbit and had the whole snake coiled round my arm and trying to swallow my f&^%ing hand. They are very strong and I thought my arm was gonna break as it coiled around and ocntracted, first I tried prising it's teeth off my hand with a wooden stick I hat to hand, no luck, this thing was determined it was gonna eat my hand. So I smashed it against the wall, but no dice, it would not let go. In the end I sawed it in half with a hacksaw while it was still trying to swallow my hand. When my friend came back and asked for his snake I gave him the head end, the rest went in the bin. He wanted several hundred punds compensation for me haviong sawed his snake in half but when I showed him my black and blue arm and the holes in my hand he soon understood It was more likely I would saw him in half than give him any money.
I understand why some folks like snakes, but me, I reserve the right to cruelly and heatlessly slaughter and chop into little pieces any of the bastards that ever come near me again, I scan still close my eyes and feel the terror of watching that python trying to eat my hand.
One consolation, I skinned and ate the rabbit, was really nice.

Brittish Hempire, your story was quite entertaining. I am sure you were scared . I have one question though, is it that expensive to live in England that you gotta kill the rabbit? The US is supposed to be the brutal redneck but I think you prove our roots come from the Old Crown.
