Cheap 11 site ebb&flow plans w/ pics

I posted this in the wrong forum(general) and thought this was a more appropriate place for it.

Link to the the thread

I became very interested in this concept because of the limitations im having with my DWC cabinet setup. Keeping my little 250w close enough to my rez without heating up the water has been an issue. Also, I need to run my commercial pump(which is very loud) to have enough airflow in my rez(10gal). With the multiflow setup I would be elimating the noise and the need to keep my rez at a constant low temperature.

Hope this helps at least one person. :joint:

Yeah those plans have been around for ever...I actually built one....they are good for bonsai mothers and maybe vegging....no good for flowering.

I hope you dont mind if I pick your brain for a bit??

What issues did you have when flowering??

After some reflection on my question the only limitations I could think of was the container size being to small(2liters). This could be alleviated by using larger 1 gallon containers.

seems like the roots might clog the pipes if vegged longer than a couple weeks

Ive been skimming thru the 104 pages of info he has on his site. It turns out that he got this idea from an issue of Hightimes in 1990, the article was grow pot for pennies.

Seems that people have gotten around this root clogging problem by either using a paint strainer (just looks like fine netting, im sure panty hose or something could be used in its place) or by watering more often so the roots dont grow in search of water. This method would prolly work best in a SOG with minimal veg time.

The bottles are unscrewable so that is always an option to trim back unruly roots. I think after my DWC run im gonna try this E&F system. Its relatively cheap and I already have a subpump that I use to empty my rez.

this would probably work for SOG for sure....never even thought of the panty hose thing....you should try flowering in this system and make a grow journal. Would be really interesting :)

Thats exactly what im gonna do. I have to finish up my DWC at this location and then relocate and try this setup.

If you dont mind me just digging a bit more. Any other thoughts or comments about this system that you have?? Good or bad I would like to hear it.

you could just get some netting roled up in a ball to go in the hole and prevent root blockage... the small hole netting you would use to keep birds off stawberries or fruit trees, rolled up into a little ball....

That could work, but over time I think the constant flooding will push the ball out of place. Either way its still an option I would have to try out.

just make sure to seal everything really good with caulk after you get done gluing everything together. When I first made one I had leaks where I put the soda bottle caps in.

Hey Trip, didn't our old pal OscarMeyer keep his mothers in one of those?

I definatly agree it's viable for a SOG, but if that were to be the plan, you'd want more that just those 11 sites spaced SOOO far apart...Wasting all that space

Ive read that Ron(the guy who made the plans) said that with a little bit of PVC glue and a thin wall pvc pipe his setup stayed water tight. He actually has a system that is 15 years old that is still in use.

cheater... :bashhead: the sites have to be closer and im really lazy.

Just cut the spacer pvc pipes shorter and add more T pvc if you want more sites. That link should give you a nice guideline to get you started.
