imo we're not paying for the tiny piece of (sometimes barely) rooted vegitative matter, but rather for the highly sought after chromosomes within those green cells - genetics that have been refined from once-seed strains as well as crosses to new strains and hybrids, and I would even go so far as to say medically the most effective strains. Call them brand name or what have you, but the cuts, if genuine, are worth the 15 (and sometimes 20) bux if they are going to profit for the further engineering of better strains (that's why I only deal with reputed stock holders/breeders), and recently there have been mamas (ready to flower) going for only 25 dollars (saw the same type of deals in NorCal) - it doesn't get any more convenient/compassionate than that folks, worth every cent, that's all, my 2cents..

however, im with dragor on the mamas for 25 bux... i'd love a deal like that in sd.. but driving to norcal isnt worth it for me.. to risky i'd say.

There are always folks out to just make money. Those who make hundreds of cuts to sell the clubs are risking a 5 year minimum if the Feds pop them. DEA doesn't care what size the plants are. A person can flower a plant and get 4 oz.,which he can sell to clubs for $800 -$1000 or he can get 20-30 cuts from the plant which he can sell to the clubs for $100 -$600. Same risk...lower return to sell cuts. When I first got started,I bought a few cuts from the SD clubs. Most had mites or powdery mildew. OBD had a space in their office that had a dozen plants with mites on them. One of the managers offered to give some of them to me, but I turned them down. I liked the genetics, but not the bugs. I had to throw away a God plant that was covered with mites and infected my grow room. Never bought clones again. Now I run 15-20 strains for my med patients and give away seeds and clones so they won't have to go through that crap. You really have to know the med club folks to know if their clones are legit and pest free. Otherwise, you get screwed. I wouldn't begrudge a grower or club getting $15-$25 for a pest free clone with decent genetics, but you can't hardly trust any of them any more. Since there are no clubs left locally, I rely on seeds and friends.

the SD clubs sucked for clones period end of story. and btw if have a legal 215 script your odds at landing a 5 years sentence from the feds for more then a 100 plants are slim to none.

kushman: just to let you know a friend of mine got pulled over and arrested with 40 unrooted clones, and regardless of root structure or not they still count it as transplanting 40 "marijuana plants".
i had another friend who is disabled with aids and he came over to get a free bag of trimmings to make butter and hashish. he got pulled over and the cop dismissed the fact he was a MMJ user and arrested him for transporting one and a half pounds of marijuana.

dragor: im going to have to respectfully disagree as this encourages growers to not release strains. an og kush clone should cost the same as a blueberry or skunk1. we should only be paying for the time and effort to care for the plants. we should not be having to pay for the name...

Damn,readin this whole thread makes one realize thatr you guys out in cali got a real crazy green scene! You all are talkin about grabbin cuttins and havin access to some of the most elite genetics I think most of you should be thankful cause let me remind you its not like that around the rest of the U.S. Clone prices should never be a problem, the grower has done you a favor to find worthy genes to enter into a garden. Cuts costin 50 dololars that is cheap! Especially if they are comin with good health! Other people have to go through packs and time of searchin and lots of time i should add. I know people that would pay 200 to 300 dollars for a good cuttin especially if they could get it down to exactly what they desire! These people would be more than glad to grab up real shit! You buy from a guy that tells you it takes this long to flower, smells like, taste like, and its exactly that. Buyin seeds its a roller coaster ride but mostly a learnin experience Outside of this place you all call cali, gettin good medicine to burn isnt guaranteed and clones are unheard of! Remember the sayin loose lips sink ships! So please take a look at what you have and consider yourself lucky! Case outside this web site and that state california its a lonely place!

I don't know what all that's about ^^^^ But in cali there are a shitload of clones going around that are bomb as hell too. The "real" genetics are locked up, well that's cool cuz I got my own bomb in my box and don't need the people with "real" genetics to help me out if they don't want to. Anyone who hoards and locks up ANY strain is just a waste of time and they only want the money. Just my opinion....I don't like people in it for the money, I want to chill with real cannabis connoisseurs like myself, and trade genetics not lock them away to be lost. If you really want to spread love, you need to trade. And all those "real" genetics I could care less about.

10feet, we all need a good rant now and then. Far too much of the Cali market is driven by greed and deception,which is why I don't buy clones anymore. Fortunately, there are a lot of good-hearted folks around who DO care about the med patients and are willing to help out.
The most unfortunate part of all this is that the greed and profiteering is promoted by the very government that claims that there is no medical value to this plant, despite hundreds of scientific papers to the contrary. Without government persecution of this plant, there would be little profit in the medical cannabis industry. Drug gangs would wither up and blow away,due to lack of profits. True and open medical research could take place and it is possible that many diseases or contitions could be cured or helped by cannabis. The government would rather that 1,000s of their own citizens die than admit that they have been lying for 70 years and that politicians have been accepting bribes to keep this wonderful herb illegal.
Fortunately, despite the threat of prosecution, incarceration and the loss of Constitutional rights, there are still a lot of medical growers who will continue to grow for the med patients and provide cuts and seeds to those in need. I have given away over 2,000 seeds and have another 13,000 or so to spread to the medical community. I hope I can get it done before the long arm of the Law puts me away.

glad to see everyone feels the same. why in the world would rastas call the herbs, the healing of the nation ? because it is. what i wanna know is, how can someone feel decent when a patient who has arthritis comes in asking for a sativa an they give em a indica ? doing that spits on the concept of prop 215.
someone with arthirits needs a sativa... to ease the pain.

praisehim, the very last thing that any of us want is for the government to run prop 215 or grow weed for us. you may not be aware that the government DOES grow weed at the Univ. of Miss. and distributes it to the 5 medical patients that are still alive and were grandfathered in when King George 1 killed the experimental drug program. The pot that the government grows is 4% THC and is shittier than Mexican brickweed. My very worst plants are 3x more potent than the government plants and are not male and seeded female plants mixed together and stored in a freezer until they give them out.
