bulb selection

hey yall
for my first grow i used MH and a HPS. both cheap ass bulbs, but they worked. now that im done with the grow, i've noticed some black residue on my HPS bulb, like it was burnt out, but it still operates. also during veg, i always thought the MH smelled a lil funny and it worried me (now that i think of it, it could have been the carbon filter? still scurrred )

anyways, i would like to purchase a bulb that i wont have to replace, a full spectrum bulb. i have a 400w lumatek digi ballast, and i came accross these bulbs:

They are chinese knockoffs of the agrosun and hortilux for $30.
it sounds great to me, but wut do you guys think? does it sound right? and which one would u choose? THANKS IN ADV!!!!

back to the orginal post. anyone know anything about those knock off MD hydro is selling? they are now at 30 for 1000K that would be a great deal if they actualy work. ANY FEEDBACK?

i just picked up a few, they seem good to me. Also hid huts brand were great, cant see any diffrence in crop with the hid hut vs the hortliux eye hps.

I know someone who tried using the HORTILUX BLUE MH 400w bulb in a 400w blue lumatek and it never fully fired. It just kept flickering at a pathetic intensity...

Anyone know of any MH bulbs that work well with 400w lumatek digital ballasts?

Where was the residue, if it was on the inside of the arc tube, that is fairly normal and no big deal, on the jacket I dont know what it means. When I bought my first light the dude at the hydrostore said that he though hortilux bulbs were a bit overated and the cheaper bulbs would perform just as well. If you have to decide between a expensive bulb that you will have to use longer or cheaper bulbs you can replace more often, go with the cheaper bulb.

i get black residue also-- but mine comes from the polluted air i pull in to cool my 1000 w hps--- thats living in the city!!!
