CNS-17 NON COCO

What's up my peoples!

Just curious about the stuff in a NON Coco Coir context. Wanting to know who has tried it, and some thoughts. I have some small bottles but have yet to try it on anything yet. I want to try it out on my AeroGarden for kicks.

uh, ok.

I was thinking of switching from FNova to CNS. Smart move or not.
It's cheaper but I would have to use a bit more per gallon. Nova is 1.5tsp/gal and CNS is I think 4 or so.

I was calcing around with the prices of FN and CNS

With Nova @ 70usd for a gallon and CNS @ 25usd per gallon I came to the conclusion that:
Nova @ 8ml/g, 1gal of Nova makes 473g of solution = 6.75usd per gal of solution
CNS @ 20ml/g, 1gal of CNS makes 227g of solution = 9.08usd per gal of solution

So I just answered my own Q with a little work. Since FN has a proven record, I will stick with it for now.

Thanks for your help.

careful when buying FN in bulk because after about eight months it starts to crystalize, I bought a quart about two years ago when they still had the label that said to use within six months and about one year after I bought it when it was empty I noticed many pebble sized nuggets of crystalized nutrients at the bottom of the bottle, on the other hand tho I have a bottle of CNS17 that I got eighteen months ago and its still fine so for bulk buying your better off with the CNS17 stuff.

Thanks for the heads up!! I dont think that I would buy a gallon at a time of Nova though. Quarts last a few grows even with a few different systems and plants all over the house. I keep the Noval, CalMag+, and Silica Blast in the fridge do you think this would help with this issue???

I don't think keeping it in the fridge will help, best thing to do is by it in small amounts if you can, for me 1 quart would last maybe two months and 1 gallon would last me over one year so I went with CNS17, I like to buy in bulk so that I don't have to take a trip to my "local" store more than twice per year (its 45 minutes away).

Just out of curiosity, boxy, what's your system of choice for your CNS?

I may have to change my mind around, if I see some junk @ the end, Ill switch.

I like Ebb & Flow or DWC, both gave me good results in the past :rasta:

I don't add anything but if you want im sure some liquid karma or floralicious plus wouldn't hurt.

With all that separation, do you just shake the jug up like mad, or do you have a system to get it all blended well?

I just shake the jug vigorously for a few minutes, iv got the 2.5 gal jug so its kinda easy but if I got the 5 gal id probably use one of those paint mixers that attach to a drill.

What medium did you use? Thing isa bale of coco is cheaper than anything else and makes it hard to pass up. Only other thing that's as cheap is perlite.

I used hydroton pebbles, there fairly cheap and best of all you can reuse them over and over again, a 25L bag is about 30$ depending on what store you go to.

One more for ya! Just to have another reference point. What were you dosing per gallon? Seems like it'll need to be ~20ml/g, was this your ballpark too?

THanks for the helpfull info B.Brown!!

I am switching to coco so i just bought the grow and bloom .From what i read 20 mil per gallon is way too strong I think 10 mil per gallon is more like it making csn cheaper

for vegetive I dose at 15ml/g and bloom it goes from 15ml/g to 30ml/g which is 25% of what the bottle says because on my 2.5g bottle it has a sticker that reads "Reduce dosage by 25% for indoor/HID lighting use".

Bozo, 20ml/g may be too strong for Coir depending on plants chosen, but Im looking for NON COIR info.

B.Brown, cool. THat's what I thought.

Sir brown, we have crystals in the FN bottle!!!! You sir were correct. SO it'll be tossed out here soon. I may pawn in off on my mother who has an Aerogarden with basil.

So we're running my small sample bottles of CNS and Florabloom as a PK^ and things look good, though we're still in coco. The NON coco is upcomming in 2 weeks or so in a mix of Perlite and Aquatic Soil (aka turface) mixed at 50/50. Cuttings fed with CNSB+F.liciousB+GHFloraBloom... we'll see.

How do the plants respond to the extra Ca and Mg in the CNS? I assume they love the added Mg, but do you find that the xtra Ca does anything to there disposition?
