Switching Nute Companies

Howdy Campers. I'm switching form Fox Farms nutes due to massive ph problems, Tiger bloom is very acidic and builds up in the soil, even when only feeding once a week. This has happened two grows in a row and I am very tired of crawling under my 12 square foot scrog screen to flush the plants.
I stopped by my local "store" and talked with the owner. He has Dr Hornby's (Advanced Nutrients) Iguana Juice and almost all of his stock of AN products on sale for 40% off. This makes the price very nice and I am wondering what y'all think of Iguana Juice. Anyone using it? Love it? Hate it? Recommendations?

peace

I use and still use ff products at times and lime helped me to no end. But when I switched to flora nova I will never look back. AN is still to expensive and you have to use so many of their products for a grow. Get FN and you will see what I mean

im gonna be using fox farms and im wondering if u adjusted the ph of the nute mix before u fed the plant and are u using r/o water.just wanna know what i might be in for.

All I can say is different people sometimes have different experiences, so I'm not knockin on the thread owner. This is the third grow I have used FF ferts. I use, and have used, FF stuff alone, and with other things.

I have a grow finishing up right now of MSN SuperSilverHaze and Seedsman Skunk Haze. They are going on week 8/9 of flower. The last three feedings Jan 1st, 4th, and 9th were with FF BeastieBloom at EC's of 1.5, 1.3 and .7. And from time to time I added Earth Juice Microblast. Most all watering/feeding I used Liquid Karma @ 1tsp/gallon.

Water/feedings before that were with combos of FF TigerBloom and BeastieBloom, a lil EJ Bloom mixed in a couple times mid flower. I used TigerBloom to supply a bit of Nitrogen when they still needed it. But EC's ranged from 1.0 to 1.5 (500-750PPM)during mid flowering.

I mix all my ferts using a PPM meter, then just mentally convert to EC. Just easier for me because I get advice from some folks who know EC but not PPM.

I use tap water and the PPM on it ranges from 50-75. Most of it due to Calcium. pH is always around 7.0-7.5. My experience is if you have made a good soil with sufficient lime in it, pH problems will be rare. I used EJ grow early on a couple times. pH was like 4.0 (Liquid tester was pinkish-red!!! LOL) Plants ate it up. Gotta love that lime. I also use EJ Grow to pH my water if just giving water. It only takes a about 1/4 tsp to bring a gallon of my tapwater down .5 pH units.

So all I can say is I've had pretty good luck with FF stuff. I had a Ice and Aurora Indica grow that came out really nice using nothing but FF TigerBloom and BeastieBloom during flower.

Anyway good luck with your grow.

:sasmokin:

SuperSilverHaze(MNS) Day 52 flowering. She is just beginning to show signs of burning. Other than that she is a very deep green. That's OK since she is going get weaned down to nothing but pH'd water very soon.

I appreciate all of your replies. I have been using Fox Farms for the past couple years with very little problems. That is until this year. I use RO water and ph my nutes to 6.5 every time i feed. It seems the plants are leaving the micro nutes behind which is making the soil more acidic.
FN sounds like decent stuff. Thanks for that tip
Does anyone use AN's Dr Hornby's Iguana Juice?

no experience with said nutes, but have had strange things happen when i ran out of canna nute and used a cheeper fert.. Basicly at same ec level the cheeper fert burnt leaf tips, leaves became greener with more defined veins with longer fingers more outdoor appearance.. was quick to change back with plant reverting to normal

how old are your fox farm products and how are they stored theres an old thread floatn around here discusses bad FF ferts. when you shake the bottle of tigerbloom do you hear something rattling around if so the organic matter is dead and fert is bad. with grow big and tiger bloom it's best to start off 1/4 - 1/2 strength dossage and see how the plants react if they like it continue next wk bump the dossage up and watch thier reaction. i had a new bottle of tiger bloom and grow big go bad on me the only FF product i currently use now is ocean forrest soil good stuff there. ff ferts are also only organic based meaning not 100% organic they contain trace minerals. i switched to 100% organic ferts to go along with there 100% organic soil. in the old thread about bad FF ferts some1 got FF to admit the shelf life of thier products grow big tiger bloom big bloom if kept under optimum conditations.
grow big has shelf life 2yrs organic based
tiger bloom shelf life 2 yrs organic based
big bloom shelf life 3yrs. 100% organic

as for the fert your inquireing about i havent used it i use
liquid karma
diamond necture
pure blend pro grow
growmore seaweed extract cold processed kelp
sweet
tad calmag+ during veg

after 2wks of flower i drop the N ferts pbp grow and seaweed extract use the rest and add
indoneasion guano
jamican guano
i use liquid ferts every other watering guanos also untill 30 days flower then every watering i use guanos as soil dressing ontop water and mix it in.

High MajPothead, I buy new nutes every year. The Tiger Bloom from last year had that familiar rattle, so I pitched for a new bottle. However, I can't find a date stamped on the new bottle. It would make sense if the nutes were old. There's no telling how long they sat around the hydro shop before I bought them. Thank you for posting your nute regime.
anyone else?

I've used Tiger Bloom for my first two grows, and I'm going to be using it for my current grow also, along with a few other things.

Tiger Bloom is supposed to have a low PH, and I find myself using a bit of PH up when feeding with Tiger Bloom. My tap water is at 6.5 PH and I add PH up crystals until the Tiger Bloom/ Water mix is around 6.5. I also have a little bit of dolomite lime mixed into the soil to help with any PH issues.

Also, I don't know if this is a good idea or not, but I've been storing my liquid nutes in the fridge. I haven't really read too much or heard about how it is best to store liquid nutes. Does anybody else put their nutes in the fridge ?

Ready to bloom? Tiger Bloom® makes it happen. This is an ultra-potent, fast-acting, high-phosphorus fertilizer with just enough nitrogen to sustain healthy, vigorous green growth during flowering. The low pH keeps it stable and ensures that the micronutrients will be available when plants need them. In addition to containing critical trace minerals, we brew our liquid fertilizer with earthworm castings and kelp meal for a biologically active formula.
