First Indoor Grow- Supplies

Hello all, thanks for tuning in. I have decided to grow some plants using the hempy bucket method, I think I'm going to grow 9 because it can fit into a perfect square, and it will have a much shorter veg than 4 would.

Supplys:

1. 4x4 Hydrohut (Actually 4'6''x4'6'') (There's a 3x3 hut, would that be better?)
2. Rooting hormone
3. 600 watt electronic Lumatek ballast or Galaxy?
4. SilverStar 6" Air cooled Reflector
5. yo-yo hanging system (Can they hold a Silverstar+bulb?)
6. General Hydroponic basic veg and bloom fert
7. Rockwool plugs
8. Perlite and vermiculite
9. Hortilux bulb
10. Ec+pH meter
11. Temp+Humidity meter
12. Ducting 24''
13. Oscillating fan
14. CFL+Mini green house for rooting clones and a mother
15. 6'' Vortex Fan Carbon Filter Combo
16. Timer (Recommendations?)

17. In your opinion should I get an MH or should I just veg with the HPS?
18. Do I need a contactor for one light?
19. Do I have to attach a plug to the blower manually?
20. Do those odor jars work for harvesting?
Getting some Sensi seeds northern lights (original one I believe) and some SSH from Mr.Nice.

21. Has anyone had experience with these sites for ordering supplies?

I think that's everything, am I missing anything? Any suggestions/ comments/ help is greatly appreciated!

I would probably go for the 3x3 hut. The 4x4 will yield more, but dang at only 29 watts per sq ft. vs. the 66 that you could have with a 3x3...for me I would rather have less buds, but more dense, fat ones...way less trimming too.

I would just go for the HPS for both (then eventually get a separate section for seedlings, clones, and vegging...you can use floros here), but if you get a digital ballast they will run either MH or HPS.

i disagree with :the dank: . the 4x4 with a 600 is a pretty good combo if you're expecting to see any kind of high ambient heat.

there are actually a couple threads on growing in tents (hydrohuts, custom/ghetto pandapoly tents, etc)
You might want to check those out to see what that group thinks. Wuite a few growers using them.

I'm in the same boat....

I'm in the same boat....

I'm basically looking at the same equipement. However, I strongly believe that the prices which Canadian retailers charge are grossly uncompetitive as compared to their American counterparts. Before you finalize your choice I would get in contact with any of the stores listed below. As long as you get your goods shipped via USPS you will avoid further taxes and duties.

bghydro - Will price match competitors

mdhydro - Absolute lowest price on Lumatek digital ballasts and AC Hoods

htgsupply - Great price on their inhouse 2' T5 Units

plantlightinghydroponics - Galaxy Digitals and Lumateks and most everything is fairly priced.

This is just a starting point. The above mentioned retailers have a long history of positive feedback from most peeps here. In addition, their shipping cost will be lower than buying from a (C) retailer. I love your country but from my few visits I have had I wasn't impressed with the price differential that you guy's have to put up with.

In addition, I'm leaning towards the Hydrohut Deluxe - has more room to move plants around and is just a few bucks more. Plus it will already come with the 6 inch vents for your new 6" Vortex.

I wish you the best.

I'm actually looking at the HH Original which is 4.6 x 4.6.

Want the digi and will need Air Cooled Hood.

I like your choices.

Once again, good luck and let us know how things go.

IrishSoCo- Thanks for the heads up, I am kind of stuck between the two actually. 3x3 would be more watts per f2, but the 4x4 would be a lot better for heat. 37.5 watts per f2 with the 4x4 and 50 with the 3x3. On the other hand I'm getting the 6'' fat with an air cooled hot, so maybe the 3x3 is the better choice?

nlvigour- thanks for those sites, I agree, in the US everything for growing seems to be MUCH cheaper, I will definitely go with them. I wonder how long it will take to arrive.

Thanks for the responses guys, I thought this place was a ghost town for awhile!

I run a 400w in a Hydrohut Mini (3x3) and it is pretty kickass. You could get a 600 in there, but you would want a larger fan, like a 6" and of course aircooling. Id say go for the 4x4 hydrohut and you should be pretty happy with those buckets :joint:

Ok so it's
1 vote for the 3x3 and 3 votes for the 4x4. With a 600 watt hps.

Can't wait to try the hempy buckets :)
